  • I see someone has already posted this, but I noticed it at my local branch today.
Looks like these stores are all going to make quite a loss on these books with the price war going on,I belive it costs them almost £9 per book to buy in.
Anyway,I haven't read any of the books, but seen all the films, so a bit behind on the story line.

It's all marketing, a loyal tesco shopper hears its 5£ in morrisons, goes to morrsions to buy the book, seeing as there at morrisons might have a shop there and may return in the future. The store i went to buy mine, they where in the middle of the store with the book being heavily advertised outside. I would't say there losing 4£ a book, if there buying 500000 shipments there getting a good deal and i suspect that producing a book on a scale as huge as this is cheaper than other best sellers.

I pre-ordered mine from Waterstones when they had a 20% day a few weeks back so got if for £7.19 less quidco so a shade under £7 which I was well pleased about until everyone else started selling for a fiver:mad:

Anyway, as the store is just along the road from me I opted for free store delivery and picked up the package yesterday. When I got home and opened it there were 2 copies instead of 1. Invoice stated 1 and my credit card has only been charged for 1.

So my copies worked aout at £3.45 each:beer:

  • As it was the last book I decided to treat myself and paid £7.99 at Waitrose. Everyone knows that stuff from Waitrose is better quality than other supermarkets. So whilst you're having to deal with your Morrison and Asda versions, I get to read a nicer, more up-market and, dare I say it, posher Harry Potter for just an extra £3.
  • Morrisons are selling for £4.99. Got mine Saturday.
