    Voucher arrived today
Will pay the last bill (wife keeps using it despite strict instructions to use our nationwide one ) and will call them
Reminds me, should cancel the old barclaycard one as well
  • My card was officially closed today ;)
  • Stopped using my Amazon card on 29th. Paid off my Amazon card on Tuesday. Got my last lot of voucher money Wednesday. Cancelled the MBNA card (before I even got the new card) today. Cant believe MBNA thought anybody would stick with them without any vouchers or cashback that others offer

I got a very helpful reply in 24 hours to my website message saying they had closed my account today and to destroy my existing card.
  • Card closed yesterday, Amazon voucher received by email, phoned to cancel, now just waiting for the new card to arrive (I went for the capital one card at 0.5% with the £10 annual payment in the end).
  • My bill is due in a couple of days, going to wait for that to go through and then cancel. Not found anything else worthwhile, so will keep my Halifax Clarity with free foreign spending. Amazon may launch a new card with someone else, and if they do, will jump on that.

I distinctly told them on the phone that I did not want their new mbna card as it had no offers and what dya know I got an email today saying welcome to my new account with mbna and expect my card in the post shortly !!! Makes you think you are talking to a brick wall having credit open but not being used surely affects my getting credit elsewhere on a card with better deals. I emailed them but could not give old amazon my card no as I have long since chopped it up! Has anyone else had this. I want a 0% purchase card and mbna do one but its not the one they wanted to switch me to , if I apply once they have closed this one down properly would I stand a chance of getting their 0% card ?

When did you phone them? if you look on the email it says they are sending you it based on your account standing on a particular day. Mine says 11/10/2014 but I only got the email today. Therefore they may have cancelled it but the email was generated based on data they held before then.

Rang them ages back as soon as I received a letter saying Amazon was ending, because my amazon card was due for renewal and I didnt want another because of the rewards ending.

Got my last Amazon voucher, annoyingly just discovered a couple of websites where I still had the car registered as the default payment method. No biggie as small transactions, but will have to wait another month to cancel the new MBNA card...

Any suggestions on replacement cashback card? I've got John Lewis, struggling to find anything better. Not interested in cards with annual fee and the travel ones don't do it for me, not that impressed with Tesco or Nectar either. Prefer straight cashback or vouchers for major shops. Maybe Amazon will come out with something new, though no sure given their recently announced losses...
