  • I've spoken too soon! I went over budget this week rather than under. I decided to buy in things for packed lunches, which has never been included in the budget before. Think I went overboard! I only hope my partner appreciates what is in his lunch box.

Went to A**I for my weekly shop and spent £26.34 which is £1.34 over budget. There's enough in to do us until this Sunday.

    Total: £78.04/£100
The Good : Topcashback: £70.01; RBS cashback: £5.04
    The Bad:Virgin Atlantic CC: £372.21
Challenges: GC October: £7.50/£100; GC September: £103.85/£100
  • Adding £17.92 to the budget which puts me £2.25 over budget so far!

We are off on holiday on Sunday morning and we are well stocked til then, so fingers crossed no more spends needed!

I bought some veg today which I'm hoping to help make into soups & stews for lunches and the freezer. Also stocked up on puff pastry sheets as I couldn't find any the other day!

    Hi all

I've really been failing the last few months and I have finally sorted out my money and worked out how much I owe (scary!), updated my sig etc and recalculated my budget.

    This is my LAST CHANCE.

So my October budget will be £140 to include Food, Cleaning, Toiletries and Alcohol. Starts 26 September. This is going to be somewhat tight as quite honestly and shamefacedly I admit I've been drinking quite a lot recently. I don't remember the last day I didn't have alcohol of some description. I don't mean getting drunk or anything, usually 1 or 2 drinks, but I dread to think how much I've been spending. I need to kick this habit as I don't want to spend the money, don't need to be doing it, and don't want to be ruining my health! So must find other things to focus on in the evenings!

The other thing is toiletries; annoyingly I've used up all my spares etc so will need to buy a fair bit in October. So I must focus!

Anyway, back to September, I don't really have anything significant to spend on food for the next ten days till my new budget starts, so Ill have to play it by ear. I will need to do some batch cooking and stuff and I do have a full fridge at the moment. My stocks are, to be honest, AMAZING. Tons of dried beans and grains and pasta and noodles, so it's only fresh stuff I need to top up!

Sorry for long post, need to get myself REALLY MOTIVATED AGAIN!!!

Also try and do half hour exercise a day. Because I'm not, and it's showing :(

    Hope you're all well

  • Hi all, £56 spend by me at the weekend which is the most I have spent on food in ages. It should last two weeks at least, here's hoping.

Today's dinner will be HM soup and HM apple crumble.

Managed to do a nice shop today, stocked up on tins, baking bits, fruit and veg. Also went yellow sticker hunting but didn't find anything of interest - I was a bit too early, so made a note to self to go a little later tomorrow.

I am under budget this week, pleased with myself. Feels like I have managed to get a grip back on things, returning to the OS saving ways.

    Thanks all x
    Wishing you all good luck!

  • Just to clarify - as September is technically a five week month. Should we be making our budgets stretch to the w/c 29 September or would that count as the first week of October?
