  • Hi all, NSD for me again today as Bf is in the middle of his nights, so can't take me shopping! OS, or what? lol

Coxy11 - I read somewhere that it doesn't matter what fat content of mince that you buy, if you dry fry, drain and then rinse with warm/hot water (sounds weird I know) you will remove most of the fat, making it less than 1%!!! I always do this now. Saves on cost, and healthy too!

I'm going to give the GC a go again. Have fallen off the bandwagon for the last couple of months due to various stresses, but hopefully we're through the worst of it, so it's back to keeping a close eye on spending now.

Setting a budget of £170 for 29th Aug-1st Oct for all grocery and household items for two adults, but won't be including meals out.

    Spending so far:

£5.09 in Sainsbobs when we got home on Friday for 2 ready meals, milk and reduced clotted cream

£29.75 in Ald! restocking cupboards and buying food for meal plan (was kicking myself for missing out on the £5 off voucher as I was sure I would be over £40, but glad I didn't get it now :D)

£3.08 in L!dl on 2 heathers, cherry tomatoes, half price cereal bars and 1kg nectarines for a £1 (they have been very nice, perfect amount of juiciness and falling off the stone)

£7.51 in T3sco on ice cream, peanut butter, BBQ sauce, pork ribs ( so expensive, made me remember why we're practically veggie) and a bargain 8 cans of chopped tomatoes for £1! Yet to see whether they're any good or not yet....
November GC: £50.55/£130. October GC: £72.60/£150
September GC: £131.27/£170. July GC: £62.48/£80. May GC: £135.00/£150
April GC: £201.91/£140. March GC: £194.98/£200. January GC: £111.41/£200.
December GC: £67.45/£80. Nov GC: £159.32/£220. October GC: £208.07/£250.

First spends of September today - just 75p on a loaf.
We have been looking after grandson after school a lot this week as his dad is in hospital so have been doing 2 extra meals a night and had to change menu plan as grandson is a fussy eater. Should be back to normal tomorrow as he should be home.
Today we had some home made soup and cheese & beetroot sandwiches (forgotten how much I liked them) and for tea we are having hm chicken pie with vegetables.

  • Hi Yummitymummity
Mr Al*i usually does a voucher the last thursday of the month in the D Mirror but as with everything in life it could stop anytime.:(
But if you keep a look out on here somebody usually informs us if there are vouchers for supermarkets

Thanks for that! Will keep my eyes peeled for any vouchers and let everyone know if I spy anything.
My son (5 years old) was rushed into hospital the other night with breathing difficulties so we both had an overnighter there. Whilst up there (half an hour away is our nearest a!di !!!) did an unplanned shop on the way home. (No official planning just winged it). I'm still happy as it was less than I usually spend and should last a good while.
Soo, first shop of September was £78.48 :T not bad given stressed circumstances and very pushy hubby in tow trying to get me home before we even got in there!! :rotfl: what can I say, the man doesn't do food shopping! (Good job too or we'd all be malnourished living off pizza and cereal!)
Must say though I got loads, love it in a!di. Can't say I'll ever go back to mr t's where I used to live. So much quicker too!
Clearing the debt and saving for my first home:j Bring it on:j

My first spends were yesterday at Mr T, and came in at £23.08. This wasn't a huge shop, but I stocked up on cereal, a few baking bits I needed for a party, toiletries for Hubbs, and 13p worth of flowers for me, as an early birthday treat :D

Firstly weekly shop of September came to £31.45 - meals are all planned, so hoping that lot will see me through till week 2.

Yummity hope your son is better now, sounds pretty scary.
We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.
  • Spent a blimming fortune so far. Only have £66 left til the 25th. Works out at 3.20 odd a day. Aldi shop now done. Also went to b and m, Heron, Iceland and sainsburys. Everything is fully stocked. Shouldn't need a huge amount. Famous last words me thinks.

Was hoping to come under as I'm trying to get the £30 together to join Costco. I can take it from another budget buto wanted to share it off this budget as this would be the budget that would get the most benefit.

Here's hoping for a few no spend days. 250/66
