Hi Everyone,
For my first months shop in September I spent £127.53, when I checked what was needed I hadn't realised how bare the freezer was!
I did my main bulk of shopping at Ald*, then for any bits I couldn't get from there I nipped to Morrison's (nearest shop) to top up. This did include some Tupperware and treats, Tupperware as from next month I would like to make soups, meals to go in to the freezer.
I was impressed again as to how many items I got for this money so I compared this to my previous online shops, I am still getting more for my money now than before. I sat there smugly thinking well done you! :T This has now motivated me more to save and shop better. Thanks to this thread for the support and ideas.
I'm liking this new way to shop, the money saved goes towards paying debt off :j

First day for me today and its a NSD.

D- left over roast pork in pork fried rice
I have a lots of left over pork the joint was huge does anyone have any ideas on what I can do with it as no one likes it in sandwiches.
I have to bake a cake for lunch boxes so I think I am going to make a apple cake with some windfall apples.
I am freezing chopped nectarines today as lidl had big punets on offer for £98p plast week. They will be chopped and open froze and then bagged up for smoothies, muffins, crumbles.£370/£300 April challenge :T:T0 -
Hi sillyinthepast I made Roast Pork yesterday too
I have enough leftovers for 2/3 days!
I'm thinking of making a simple ragu with one lot tonight, from Save with Jamie:
Serves 6 (I am going to halve the recipe)
2 sprigs rosemary, leaves picked and chopped
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
2 onions, finely chopped
2 carrots, finely chopped
Olive oil
Half tsp dried chilli flakes
1 tsp fennel seeds
300g leftover cooked pork shoulder, chopped
700ml tomato passata
1. Add a couple of tablespoons of olive oil to a large frying pan or saucepan and gently cook the rosemary, onions, garlic, carrots, chilli and fennel seeds for approx. 10 mins.
2. Add the pork and stir through. Cook for around 10 mins, until the pork breaks down into shreds. Add the passata and bring to the boil. Cook until you have a thick sauce.
3. Pile the ragu onto freshly cooked pasta of your choice.
Not sure what I am going to do on the other nights, will keep an eye here for other suggestionsStay at home Mum to DS Oct 2011 and DD Dec 2013

Neighbour dropped by yesterday with 2 bunches of browning bananas, 8 heads of broccoli and some peppers! So now I'm madly trying to cook it... Am thinking quiche, chinese style dressed broc salad, and brocoli pasta bake? ( I don't like frozen broccoli unless it's already cooked as part of a dish, if that makes sense!) and lots of banana bread/ muffins!
I've run out of eggs though so it will have to be a trip to the egg farm first!
Hope everyone is enjoying sunshine x
Forgot to mention, with the Roasted Veg Philly Pasta, we serve it 'as is' for the DDs and add loads of black pepper & chilli flakes for DH & me.
With regards your broccoli, what about soup, especially with stilton! The same 2 ingredients go well together for a quiche.:)2017 GC O-£93.46/£160; S-£136.26/£160; A-£130.55/£160; J-£47.12/£160;

I also dislike leftover pork so I have made a sort of schnitzel with thick slices of pork coated in egg and then a mixture of breadcrumbs and parmesan. I shallow fried them and served with new potatoes and salad. Went down very well with the family!0 -
