September 2014 Grocery Challenge

Can I join please? I had a good month last month but was using up and running down freezer and had time to cook from scratch. Am going to aim for £200 for 4 adults and the dog although the twenty teens do come and go (usually to the pizza shop!) but that is their own money.
Month will run from 1st - 30th September and I have spent £1.12 on milk today. I am near a coop so going to keep a second purse to pick up bargains as I see them. Off to do the menu plan....
Good luck everyone

Quick update: Yesterday had to nip to get a few bits before the big monthly shop tomorrow - £9.49 on fresh fruit and a few snacks to keep the kids happy for the next couple of days (thank godness the eldest is back to school tomorrow, he's been eating us out of house and home!) but forgot milk (of course!) so popped to the shop at the bottom of the road today, dragging the kids with me - sweets, milk and a drink for me came to £2.94. So £11.43 / £250so far.0

Hi everyone
I've been so busy that I've been really neglecting the last few grocery challenges, probably since we got married in March I've been a bit thrown off and then starting a new exercise regime in the last 3-4 months and a new job 3 months ago has totally changed my routine.
I've not been giving the recipe index my full attention but I'm really pleased and grateful to say that Rosieben has kindly stepped in to offer to do the index again from the October challenge (for those who haven't been with us long she used to do it before I took it on).
I'm hoping that now I'm a bit more settled in my personal life I can take up the GC myself again as I'm starting to slip a little with the moneysaving (nothing too drastic but I want to keep a lid on it as we're probably going to be buying a car in the next few weeks as my husband is sitting his driving test!).
I'm going to go calendar months to start with and budget £175 for September, to include food, toiletries and cleaning supplies for me and my husband. I'm not going to include cat food or litter as I'm trying to order better quality food online for the cat (she's a bit plump) and we already get the value litter so can't really go cheaper here. Doesn't include alcohol or eating out.
One thing which might make it challenging is I'm in a super healthy eating kick and trying to increase my protein intake as I'm now lifting weights regularly and running a lot as well. This will be hard as we all know meat tends to be pricier and tbh I don't like eating too much of it, a legacy from my days as a vegetarian. Also cutting down on carbs slightly which are unfortunately both lovely and cheapPart time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Hello,
Spent my first grocery money, £10.31 on a good stash of YS sains groceries, just realised that one of the reductions did not come through so tomorrow I shall take the packet there with receipt to get the difference, nearly 70 p!
DH bought lunch as I was asleep this morning, £2.40.
Not a bad start, hope to keep going well.
Good night. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
