I have been completely humbled by all your best wishes and I want to thank you all so much. I will continue to explore the lifestyle we had chosen to live in his memory. I want all his hard work to be worth something and this decision is partly down to this tremendous community of MSE. Thank you once again X

Jojo, I am so sorry for your loss.

I know what you are going through, the different stages, the anger, the guilt, the loneliness and when it happened to me 11 months ago, all I wanted to know was that somehow I would learn to live with it, that there was some hope for the future. There is hope ahead and somehow we are learning to live again, as singles. Its a tough old road but we are getting there. Come join us on the widows thread, being young is not a barrier. You will see the stages as they unfold and you will see people start to blossom again, when we all thought we couldn`t do it but we can, we are strong and the worst has happened so we have nothing to fear. Several of us are old style homemakers, gardeners, vegetable growers, make do and menders, crafters and we can make a £1 do the work of £2.

We are also financially aware and astute and several of us did our own probate. We aren`t just silver haired jam-making old ladies, although we do that as well

Just starting reading this thread today and was so upset to read your sad news.

I have found gardening to be a great way to work off energy and sadness (not a widow but have had some issues over the years as I am sure we all have). There is something about nurturing seeds, seeing those first new shoots and then sitting in a garden full of insects and flowers during the summer that is very soothing and life affirming.
