My most sincere condolence to you at this sad time, I was widowed 12 years ago, and certainly never expected life to turn out how it did.We had 'downsized' from our London home, but I was lucky that I had my two amazing DDs close by.
The hardest year seemed to be the first, and I found it hard to learn to buy less food, and often ended up not cooking properly for myself and seemed to live on a jacket potato as they were quick and easy or salads.
But life does go on, and you have to learn to live alone ,which is often hard. I used to get really cross at times when things went wrong indoors or needed repairing as I had almost 40 years of himself doing the odd jobs around the place.
Other people are often strange as well, as though they want to sympathise but aren't sure how.
One 'friend' of us both virtually disowned me after the funeral as though being widowed was something catching.
I know have a different sort of life, but one that is full of things. I go to U3A and lots of clubs that I joined
Three years after I lost my OH I returned to full-time education and did a degree, much to my grandchildrens amusement, my youngest DGS asked in a slightly horrified voice
'You mean you wanted to go back to school ':):):)
I swim, knit, read, walk and do umpteen things that I never though I could do
I did a 'Thelma and Louise' road trip around the U.S. with my oldest friend. I also look after three of my DGS after school during the week.In fact I sometimes think I do too much as time seems to just fly.
8 years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to have a mastectomy, them and radio therapy and other various operations I am now clear and discharged from the hospital completely. I treasure every extra day
Remember the good times you had and remember them.
Losing you partner is a bit like breaking a leg,you may limp a bit afterwards for a long while ,but you will walk again, and life has so much to offer you,not the same I know, but just a bit different
I wish you well for the future

I'm so sorry to hear that Jojo. I have no wise words to offer, like those above, but it did warm my heart to see that you'd had so much wonderful time together last year. x0

jojo - I was so sorry to read your beloved silver fox had passed away. but, encouraged that even now you cherish the memories of the last year or so. it must be comforting to know that he had maybe the best year of his life.
I can offer no advice except that already given.
you have my heartfelt condolences - and I know welsh communities, they will want to help you but will not push themselves forward. even just a hint though will have them eager to include you in everything! so when you feel ready ...................start hinting that you are interested in joining community activities.0
