I have just started listing on Amazon - just a few lines to see how they go. I love Ebay and the familiarity of it but ready for a new selling platform!
A quick tip for selling new inventory (if you are) use the advertising, it's surprisingly easy to use and not badly priced. It gives new products a needed boost.

My seller dashboard had a big blue banner across the top stating that my "updated status under the new seller standards will be available on Thursday 21 August"

Seems that the new system is already defective.

Another thought - it didn't actually state which Thursday August 21 - if not tomorrow then the next one is in 2025 . . .

Mine have updated, and I have retained TRS on all three accounts (probably not for long though).

However, the rumour that all defects prior to March would be cancelled seems to be incorrect. All mine are showing, even though Ebay encouraged me to get buyers to open INR cases and have now counted them against me.

Oh well, I have the grandchildren today, so will build clay houses and crayon instead of Ebaying :)

All mine have now updated as well and I am 'safe' on all of them. However, I was assured that the 2 INR cases that were apparently from last year (but which ebay couldn't even find) would go- in fact only one has gone.

I've got a defect rate of 7% (mainly due to items lost in the post), and have just checked my dash board. says my next evaluation date is 20th September, and my selling allowances haven't dropped.

Are you business or private and does your expanded dash show you as below standard?

A private seller below standard will not be able to use free listing events, a business will be dropped down in Best Match and possibly become hidden- so not so noticeable. What does it say about status at next evaluation?

Ebay have got this seriously wrong.

All the defect system is doing is providing a system for unscrupulous sellers to target the competition , and the buyers are going to suffer as once a seller has a defect, what incentive is there to resolve a issue.

i agree the worst issue for me is where buyers choose to open a case without any prior attempt at resolving the problem

you get a defect - the buyer probably didn't understand the implications of opening the case & you immediately and amicably resolved the problem to their satisfication

i can politely suggest to all buyers to contact me if they have a problem, but i have no control whether they follow this advice or instrad just open a case for example to say where's my item, to which you reply i posted it here's the proof of post, the post office have lost it, here's your refund (and you go on to claim for the lost item from royal mail)

    Hi Soolin,

    I'm a business seller......

What do you mean by "business will be dropped down in Best Match and possibly become hidden- so not so noticeable"?

It says next evaluation is still projected to be below standard.

I'm pretty sure only the person who sent the package, can claim compensation if it's lost?
