This doesn't sound bad - I work from home and work pay for my broadband, so this might be a way of getting a free laptop out of them.

Other than that it seems a good way to spread the cost of a laptop over 2 yrs

    Free laptop details here

    http://www.currys.co.uk/product.php?sku=972051&camp_id=froogle

or get about £300 off other laptops

From experience - before you commit yourself to orange, go to their web site and copy every page you can find in their help section.
Stick them on a cd, you'll need them when you try to connect.
Their help lines are expensive, not based in the UK ie hard to understand especialy if your problem isn't a run of the mill one and the operators don't know who is responsible for what.
Hence you will be passed from phone number to phone number to phone number - all 09 numbers.
Not an experience I want to repeat

A laptop for free is a good deal, and it is adequate for a good few things too.
I have to agree with others though, the orange 'livebox' was a nightmare to set up for a friend of mine and I have set up quite a few wireless networks, not ready out of the box, a call to india is needed:eek:

Its a poor spec laptop and a poor broadband package. make sure that both are up to the tasks you want to use them for before jumping at this package
  • Here in Hull we cannot use any other broadband server other than Hull's own server. Does this mean we are excluded from the Curry's laptop deal? That does not seem fair! - Dave

    Hi Consumer

I posted the same freebie over on the Techie board at the same time as you. Would you believe it the people over there received it the same way - i.e. criticising. Surely this sort of offer is good for anyone - even with a 2 year internet contract, it's ideal for a holiday/weekend home, as someone here says a works internet access at home?

I have chekced your thanks because knowing some of the people here they won't.

Mike - I wasn't criticising for the sake of it. That laptop will run like a dog without a memory upgrade and a 2gb limit just won't be enough for some people.

I have no intention for signing up to this offer so I won't be hitting the thanks.

2gb not enough what world are you living in! I admit 256mb will be poor but it will get alot of people by, especially if only for the internet. I refurbish several laptops, lots of them only Pentium 3 and less than 200mb mem, with fresh OP installations they run a dream and lots of people can get by on that.

I do get where your coming from (my lappy has just over 1gig, PLENTY) but for some this would be adequate, obvisouly if you want to be playing the latest lord of the rings, video editing or whatever don't bother, simple really.

He meant 2Gb download limit...not RAM.

Of course it does, Orange aren't going to subsidise a laptop when you're using anther service.
