  • Bunny I agree with everything you just said. That is exactly the way we deal with DS and have since he was born and he is a great sleeper. I especially agree with the naps bit - my MIL doesn't get the overtired thing but we really feel sleep begets sleep. And a tired boy gets hyper and silly and has tears before bedtime and a stressed mummy at the end of it - not worth it.

I'm with you all on the 'controlled crying' route (although I referred to it as 'break their spirit while they're young' :o). Also, tea & toast at 3am when they're crying next door is some compensation.....

However, broken nights are good training for when they say they'll be in at 12 and get in at 4, but that's another story....

OMG IA, your girls are SO alike!!!!!

Great photos, I actually went 'awwwwww' at the kids, and then 'ooooooh' at the bass.....lol....:)

I showed Stu the photo of the bass and he said 'I should get my guitar out again', so I replied 'Yes you bloody should or I'm giving it away to Mr IA'! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Ryan is well impressed at you calling him a rockstar by the way. :D

Morning IA, Ii do hope you have had a better night with the chillblains...

Bunny is right. Chloe is a terrible sleeper if she hasn't had a nap during the day, she gets overtired, grumpy badtempered and throws strops..

Toto is right. I smacked my middle one once (maybe its middle child syndrome) and I always remember the total look of shock!!!! I have never ever hit any of my children before or after (sorely tempted with son!). I am not for one minute saying your children are naughty, or that I am in anyway a perfect mother, but Toto telling that story really made me smile inwardly and brought back that memory!

And finally Snaggles too is right. I have felt that you have been on a high just lately especially when the thought of being debt free by the end of October was a total possibility... Then it went pear shaped and I think it has hit you harder than you think.

Have a good day though, and when do you start in Argos!

I would try it.. but the only problem we have is that Ash and K are in the same room, so if K cries for too long Ash wakes up and thinks it's time to get up :wall:

  • 1. black out blinds Tried.. didn't make a bit of difference
    2. nightly routine K can't have too many baths because of her eczema but they have a night garden/milk/story/bed routine going on at the minute
    3. Fresh air Can't I just plonk them on the doorstep for 10 mins? :rotfl:
    4. controlled crying See above reply+ to another post about Ash waking up
    5. Naps Ash has grown out of naps but K has at least 2 hrs worth either in 1 block or a morning/afternoon nap
To be fair I'm out of ideas.. except selling them to child labour..

The controlled crying is a hard one when they share a room - is it possible to move K in with you for a week just to crack it? Is she waking because she's hungry? Might be worth giving her some baby rice or porrige as supper as it will keep her feeling fuller for longer?

It won't be long before they're like my 2 and refuse to get out of bed in the mornings - in fact DD2 (9) has got up- bathed/brekkied and gone and put her jammies back on - she thinks a day in bed would be a great start to the holidays - can't help but agree :D

Good luck with the Argos jobbie - do you have to go and do some nice role play customer service training? Or is it straight in at the deep end?
