cheeky to ask guests to pay?

Options
So we are getting married in March 2015 and got ourselves a rather goo deal. 65 adult guest are included in our price.
teenages and children are on top.

slowly but surely we are getting old aunts or friend who want to come to the day , which is lovely but each additional guest over our booked once cost £110 per person!!

So i have started saying to people if you want to come that is lovely but you will have to pay your place!

Am I turning into a bridezilla?:(

Firstly, I can't believe people would ask to go to a wedding that they hadn't been invited to

Secondly, I can't believe it would even cross your mind to ask them to pay?? That is so unbelievably rude.

I would go with 'I'm sorry, but the function room/hall is very limited in numbers and so we had to be really selective' We hope to see you at the evening function/after the wedding'.

Turning? You're re-writing the book! How unbelievably rude. You might find yourself with a very small guest list at this rate!

asking people to pay their place was in fact my dad's idea after a friend asked to bring her new chap as a plus one, they have been together a few weeks.

Thing is I wouldnt take half these couple out for dinner let alone pay £220 per couple!
the evening do, the buffett is £25 per person!

Just say no then! Or even better, leave everyone else out of it and elope!

So why would you want them there even if they paid then?

Since you're obviously quite 'upfront' and assertive, why not just say 'no' to them?

The true people I want to be there are invited and the others were going to get an invitation to the evening.

But ok, looks like I am a bridezilla, thanks for clearing that up.

What then would you say to a couple who invited you to their wedding which meant it was going to cost you a week in the Maldives or Florida, aren't they even more rude expecting their guests to pay out thousands.

Completely different situation. You're talking about (probably) a very small number of people being asked to attend a wedding abroad. If they wanted to have a holiday and attend the wedding they wouldn't be paying to go to the actual wedding.

Anyone that doesn't want to go can say no!

£220 per couple?! (So £110 per person.) Just the reception do thingy and that is over seven grand?! And teens and kids are on top. So it could be over 10 grand!

And that isn't including anything else!

The Original post confuses me a bit. So are you saying 'we have decided who we want to invite and anyone else who wants to go has to fork out £110 each?'

All sounds very complicated AND expensive.

    Good luck!
