Just catching up with you - sorry to hear about all the vet bills but good that your dog seems to be doing well now.

It feels painfully slow at times this mortgage reduction! It will all be worth it in the end though.

Good luck filling up the slush fund!

Took DS shopping yesterday. Few spends as he needed new wellies and wanted some Star Wars socks, also got him a book (anything to encourage him to read!), bought myself some underwear and also bought a couple of stocking fillers for DH for Christmas.

He was bored after 1.5 hours to we came home.

Not much else to report, am watching too much telly and doing too little housework - really need to get my act together.

Hi to you too Bookworm - have been keeping up with your diary ;)

Not sure there is too much to keep up with at the moment :o I am still keeping with MFW ways but posting is taking a back seat to other things at the moment.

Trip to C0stc0 this morning, usual big bill which again went over budget. However bought a Christmas present for my nephew so that was £20 and DH bought some kind of electric masher that I didn't approve of so he will pay me for that (£20).

I do sound like a bossy knickers don't I? He just drives me mad with his impulse buys especially where gadgets are concerned - pasta maker, juicer, smoothie maker, popcorn making, Bamix, electric slicer - we own all these things and use none of them!

    Anyway....

Raked up the leaves this afternoon which took a surprisingly short amount of time. DH did also buy an electric rake (what did I say about his gadget habit) still not sure if I should pay or contribute to it from the housekeeping account.....

Usual amounts into various savings pots yesterday, mortgage now down to £100,029 - thats a very conservative, cautious estimate (don't have access on line) so that is on track.

Have done some Christmas shopping this week to try and make some progress on that. Already over budget for DS -can't help but spoil him, combination of him being an only child, me working full time and his age whereby the stuff he wants is expensive but doesn't look impressive. In reality I am weak and soft and probably not doing him any favours long term.

I am very pleased however that the first time ever DS thought of ideas for my parents found stuff on line and ordered their presents and paid for them out of his savings - maybe there is hope for him still! :T

Ok money is going ok, bought another few Christmas presents this week, just stocking fillers but pleased to keep momentum going. Also treated myself to a little owl ornament hanging on a string - sounds naff but I like it and will find somewhere to hang it - maybe it will inspire me to be wiser :rotfl:

Booked to see new Bond film tomorrow, let DH talk me into buying vip seats as he really rates them - I'm not convinced but it's still a pretty cheap night out so I can't complain.

Made a vegetable lasagne for dinner which was lovely and a nice change from mince. Also had the foresight to make 2 so there is another meal ready in the freezer.

You'd think he mashed for a living wouldn't you! He has just rather proudly come into the room to show me how well it works! What a big kid.

Good weekend, have done a fair few jobs round the house and did long walks each day, something I really want to maintain. Am also trying really hard to eat bigger meals but not eat in between meals. Something to try as I am a terrible snacker and think often eating a low calorie small meal just leads to hunger an hour or so later. We'll see!

Just waiting for the roast DH is cooking he is doing 2 sorts or potatoes as he loves roasties but also wanted to use the electric masher :rotfl:

Money all on track (ish) I did buy a theatre ticket for DS for a drama group trip - £45 but that includes the coach.
  • Hi Pushkin. Just finished reading your diary cover to cover. I feel your pain about the renovations and mess. I did that about 25 years ago when my kids were small. The mess seemed to last forever and plaster dust went everywhere! It was all worth it though. Well done on the progress. :)
