Baby next door crying non-stop!

My hallway is on the side we share with them, as is my bedroom and living room.
I truly appreciate all of the nice comments and advice. I don't appreciate as much the people who have called me selfish and said I have to ignore it when it's damn near impossible to.
.
But as I and others have asked, what else can you do?
Ignore it. You are making a fuss over something that cannot be helped.
If it's that bad, YOU soundproof your house.
We are not talking loud music. It's a baby. Guess what? Babies cry and they can cry a lot.
I can't believe you are even thinking of calling SS.0 -
Do you realise that I am referring to circumstances that are 40 years old - but a thread like this stills brings to the surface the feelings of impotence that I felt all those years ago, and once again, I am near to tears at the thought of it all.
Do you honestly think that in 40 years time, you are going to feel the same way as you feel now?
Please, please, please, lulu - have some compassion.
Honestly, if discussing the subject is having that effect on you after all this time, you should get some help to let go of the emotions. It can't be good for you to be still carrying that around.0 -

I hadn't thought about it for years - until this thread arose - and it brought it all back. Almost as if it is PTSD.0 -

This baby cries so loudly you can't hold a conversation in your own home with someone?
Rubbish.
By all means come and see for yourself. Yes I briefly considered calling SS but when you hear crying so bad that it sounds like a baby is in such a state of distress I didn't want to ignore it and find out something bad was happening to said child. It breaks my heart to hear it and when you are resigned to just having to put up with it, it doesn't make it any better.
thorsoak I meant the comment about other users hating babies. I hate this noise but I don't hate children. Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Added to which the OP is probably exaggerating somewhat.
ETA......I find it odd that so many people are commenting on what bad parents these neighbours must be for leaving a baby crying all day every day, totally believing the OP when she says all this.
The most disturbing thing reported was lulu saying she can hear laughter from friends even when the baby is screaming. I totally believe her.0 -

My rights are paramount to me, I would have sympathy for my neighbours but there is no way I should suffer months of nerve shredding noise (over a long period) due to their choices.
It isn't anything to do with "My rights are paramount".
You might have a point if we were talking about noise from music or something else that is deliberate and can be stopped.
This is a baby! Babies crying and making noise doesn't come under the category of "I have a right to allow my baby to cry sometimes"
They usually can't help it.
Everyone who says "I have a right to have peace in my home" what do you think the parents can do about a baby if its crying all the time, assuming they have tried everything and are also at their wits end?0 -

My suggestion would be Ear Plugs.0
