  • very good to have you back Bob XXX

(the (scummy) Sun are doing a £10 for £5 voucher for Morrision's if that is any use to you)
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Thanks Buffy-Yes, i just noticed that one. A bargain is a bargain. :D Currently doing the 4 week thing with Morrison's as well. Get £15 off on the last shop. Cupboards are groaning as normally stock up well anyway, but need to get ahead to save money. :D

  • Well Current plans are moving nicely.

    1. Changed Mobile-got me a nice fancy mobile for a £5 a month contract ( for first 6 months then goes to £10 after that) It represents a saving on other contract which was £8 a month :D Due to run out sadly and this was a good alternative-plus it has lots of features ( I am in love):money::D:rotfl:

    2. Menu Planning-I often find this is the key with moneysaving. I have a flexible menu, but have the ingredients in for it so not fixed to a certain dish on a certain night and it does minimize waste. I/we make most meals including takeaways. I have also found since DD2 moved back home that dinner time is a particular problem so have plenty of gut busting soups on the menu. I also make my own bread ( well i make DS make it:D:rotfl:) So that is a saving as well. Mr Bob needs to get back into the habit of taking his own lunches and not frittering a few quid here and there-it does mount up.

    3. Overhaul of annual stuff-we are currently on a decent tarrif with NPower-but absolute rubbish service. They forget to take DD out-also got questioned on my readings...i turn off the boiler in summer! Sheesh, i money save and still they try and diddle me. But sticking it out for the moment as they owe me( yearly bonus not applied) and i owe them thanks to not taking out DD-but no worries as once i have my dosh will pay the full bill off.

    4. Other utilities-well Council tax is paid over 12 months:D It reduces outgoings on monthly basis and is interest free.
Water rates come out monthly as does TV licence.
We have Sky on freeview so all good there (although box is duffing up) so may have to look for an alternative soon. I will need to get the aerial put back into the living room if i can't get it sorted.

    5. Petrol-Currently use an app to find the cheapest in the area-Morrisons usually comes out well and they have a current offer on for 6p off a litre:money: I do my shop-get discount vouchers and this at the minute-so kerching time.

    6. Internet is with phone provider and is not a bad deal-When i compare with Sky etc, it still comes out better in our area ( area is always the key:o) The local council is offering one at the moment so going to see how that works out and look into it when this current contract ends.

    7. Spends
These are ltd and i use my tutoring to build up extra funds after tax is set aside. I am pretty careful and try to stick to lists for shopping and going out. Not always easy to do and if i am tempted by a good offer in Supermarket i will take it out of something else.
I have an emergency fund which is necessary for household things and also to try and pay off things in full such as car tax /repairs and insurances.

    8. Extra monies-this is done by tutoring, selling on Amazon and ebay, local fb pages ( i also swap things in for vouchers, that i no longer use or have a low selling price) I have done surveys but i am not patient so a payout takes ages. I try and make birthdays and Christmas cash neutral. I swap clubcard vouchers for gifts as well and nectar points, but as i don't always shop in places that use these then i take a while to build up the vouchers.
Next on the list is a car boot to get rid of excess clutter.:D

    So that's about it.

  • Well I need a lie down after your confession of most excellent moneysaving.

    Goodluck with the carbootying

    Well done you.

This petrol app then, spill the beans to us thicko's.
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
    :money:Sleeves up folks.:money:
  • It is just the one off this site. Gives me regular updates on cheapest petrol:D Sometimes it works out cheaper further afield, but i tend to plan around my shopping and not travel if it is not going to be that beneficial. Tightwad is my middle name :D
I even had vouchers for holibob petrol .....

    Ah...but are they cunning?

Surely that stops it being a takeaway then? ;)

It's like Alien - all over again...
on the menu. I also make my own bread ( well i make DS make it:D:rotfl:)

    Is he better at it?

Mr Bob being kicked into the habit..? ;)

And then move. My Mother would rather burn in hell, than go back to nPower because of their poor service. Or at least, that's what she told the nPower door-to-door salesman...

Do you have any details on that? Not that I live anywhere near you, just I'm interested how that works.
    So that's about it.

You are extremely well organised. :o

  • Regarding the Council run internet service, they have just advertised it so i really don't know that much about it. It was an option to utilize in the future. :D

On the NPower front-i have just received an email from them after i posted this. Talk about another !!!! up...well i won't because i will just fume. I think it may just be best to pay the b****rs and tell them to go and fornicate with themselves...apologies for use of unladylike language on public forum.
