Didn't mean to suggest that anyone was being a bully, just that conflicting advice was being given - apologies if I've ruffled anyone's feathers. But Stroma is right, it's not Groundhog Day to us, it's all new and very worrying, ignoring debt collectors feels counter-intuitive and while it might be there in black and white in the stickies sometimes we need reassurance that this is the right thing to do!
Sorry I was a moo yesterday on some similar threads but...it's already covered in the top thread after all. I did notice you had been advised to post a new thread (which I wouldn't have advised you to do; I would have said read the top sticky thread, search for the keywords 'debt recovery plus' (or 'ZZPS' or whatever) and please don't start another thread)!

I started this thread to give us regulars somewhere to link newbies to, if we get yet more debt collector threads next week, it will save us a lot of typing! And hopefully some newbies will see it first and not post, just read and search and learn which is the intention of this forum in many respects.

I suppose the problem is most of these new posters looking for information on debt collectors is that they have never had a real debt, so never had dealings with them, and then these comedians pop up and claim the have a debt.

Then they google and end up on a thread rather then the main parking forum.

There's a real issue with Rossendales right now. I suspect it will get worse during the week. It's right that it gets a high profile here.

While it can seem like groundhog day on here, people often come here out of a sense of fear, and on top of that they may not always be familiar with the set up of message board/forums.
While we may see countless rosendale threads / topics, people jumping into other peoples threads ( and so on ) it doesn't realy matter as long as these people dont end up paying the PPCs and if possible kick up a fuss with the prats who thought it was a good idea to allow a PPC onto their land.

The Sticky thread is an incredibly useful tool, but if you look at it from an outsiders perspective it can be intimidating, if they need someone to guide them thorugh it then so what - as long as they dont pay the PPC and save themselves form basically being conned out of their hard earned cash so good if the end up learning about the whole PPC industry and at the end of it are in a position to spread the word/ help others then even better

Fully agree half_way, let's not forget who the enemy is! and who funds the enemy! that being the motorist who is basically mugged by these vermin, we need to help as many people as possible not potentially drive them away.

the problem is ongoing as these people wont read this thread either , until pointed at it

its not even a parking issue when its a debt collector issue (or a court issue)

if it was a bailiff issue they would be pointed at bailiffonline and some consumer forum that deals with bailiff issues

if it was a credit issue they would be pointed at some sort of credit advice forum

I dont believe that as a parking issue forum we should be inundated with debt collector issues or court issues just because some companies ramp up these issues for a private pcn, these debt collectors and court claims (MCOL) come up on all sorts of issues as could be seen on JUDGE RINDER today on ITV1 which today was about second hand cars and wedding photographers

I go on other forums where members are pointed at FAQ sections and sticky threads that contain the information required and are kept up to date and factual

its not our job to teach others how to use a forum either, but to point them at the guidance they need , but I also feel they have a duty of care to themselves to go seek out the info , especially when they ask what an MCOL is or PALS etc, yet google is 1 click away in order to answer it

very few of them stick around to help others so there is a selfish aspect to it as well , yet I have never had a DC letter or an MCOL yet I try to guide others towards the info they need , sometimes it feels like pushing water uphill

one positive step I have taken is to personally thank anyone who posts that they have read the NEWBIES thread before asking for further help, to balance the books

but they really take the biscuit when they post c*** like this (not a debt collector thread however)

The problem is if you don't teach and explain people are going to pay, it may seem to be an uphill battle, and it is! But the alternative is for people to do the wrong thing and pay, or appeal on a wrong thing , or lose a court claim when it might have been won.

Forums are great and the info can be good, but most people have never ever used one, or if they have in a very limited fashion , I have yet to have seen an easy one to use, and I have worked on most of them. They all fail to some degree.

So we simply have to put up with it, there is only one other choice and that's to give up.

The realy irritating thing is that its just the same old same old, and nothing appears to be done about putting a stop to the PPCs antics.
If POLA rule in favour of motorist A who overstayed in a car park after the motorist appealed on GPEOL etc etc after reading through this forum, but then turned down an appeal on Motorist B who did exactly the same thing in the same car park ( minor overstay ) the only difference being that they appealed on mitigation then something somewhere is rotten.

Unfortunatly ( or fortunatly ) I do not live anywhere with PPC parking permits, nor do I have to traverse an ALDI car park infested with parking eye to get to my home above/near an ALDI if I did then it would be open season on POPLA challenges ( ala parking prankster ) and telling the PPC to FRO.

The advice in the thread about how to deal with Rossendales is fine - but only go to the police if you actually feel harassed, alarmed or distressed by their letters. If you don't then what they're doing is not harassment and any crime report will be a waste of time.

I think the advice of how to deal with Rossendales in the linked thread should be amended to reflect that.
