  • We did get some snow but not enough for any fun, and it had all melted in the rain before the morning, shame!

Busy day working again yesterday, have another £140 of earnings on their way to me in the next few weeks so that's good.

I have a tonne of washing to do and lots of the surfaces in the house seem to be gathering clutter so I think once I have finished my coffee I'm going to have a major sort out and deep clean the entire place.

Spaghetti bolognaise on the menu this evening. Might cook it this afternoon and leave it to finish off in the slow cooker so that I can concentrate on helping the children with their homework this evening.

Halfway through the month and another £400 to find to sneak under the £27k mark. We still seem to be doing well with the low spending so should be on track.

I'm so glad I spent the day on the house- it is sooooo nice sitting down with it all clean, organised, and sparkling! Can't remember the last time I did such a deep clean and sort out!

Oh, and the house is filled with the smell of bread baking in the breadmaker. Feeling unusually domestic goddess-like ;) :A :rotfl:

    Back down to work tomorrow...

I love that feeling too though I don't recall the last time I had it LOL

    Have a great weekend.

  • It's not something experienced regularly in this house I'm afraid! :rotfl: Been running round picking up after everyone since the children got home from school so the house is still looking nice but I never manage to keep it up so no doubt it'll look like a bomb has hit by the end of the weekend

Checked our current account this morning and we had enough in there to skim off another £100 while leaving enough for the rest of the month. I'm not quite sure why things are looking so healthy this month, I think it must be because we got our rent so late in December, and also because DH has been so much more on board this month. All good!

  • Just the children and I at home today, I have been naughty and popped out for some fresh croissants for our breakfast- nice treat!

Need to think of some cheap and cheerful ways to amuse them today. It's absolutely freezing out there so think I might let them loose on our big box of crafty materials and perhaps do some baking with them this afternoon.

Seen a few flakes of snow this morning, but don't think we are forecast enough to have any proper snowy fun with, sadly!

Homemade pizza planned for this evening, might see if I can find a family movie on Amazon Prime to watch together while we eat it.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

  • DH did the weekly shop today. £70 spent BUT he bought a couple of huge bargain pork joints for the freezer which will trim down our shop in future weeks as we always like to have a big family roast on Sundays :) Leftover roast meat always seem to stretch to several meals so all good!

Did some Pinterest browsing before I wrote my meal plan for the week, have planned some (hopefully!) tasty new frugal meals including a Moroccan meatball one, and a chick pea/potato curry. Mushroom stroganoff planned too. Yum!

Managed to get some work done earlier and DH has cleaned the kitchen, so a productive day!

Not so sensible spends today include a Sky Sports Pass for DH (£10 to have access to Sky Sports for 24hrs). We cancelled our Sky TV years ago and I don't miss it AT ALL, but DH is a big rugby fan and does miss the sports channels when there are non-Freeview matches on that he really wants to watch. The (VERY occasional) Sky Pass is a good compromise I suppose, given we don't get one regularly. Much cheaper than a match-long beer session in a pub showing it too!

Only 13 days left until the end of the month and another step forward...

  • Not much to report today. Shall be splitting my time between work and housework I think.

Counting down the days until February begins, 11 to go!
