  • Thanks Stripes! Merry Christmas!!!

We had a lovely time thanks, really enjoyed it!

After a spendy month I am so excited about not only a nice fresh month but a whole new year! :j:j

We are aiming for a very frugal January and I can't wait! As much as I have enjoyed the festive period I have found it quite stressful, I'm really looking forward to feeling back in control again.

I'm going to set myself a £900 CC payment target for January, and have an alcohol free month too to save money and give my liver a rest after a boozy few weeks! I'm sure a post Christmas de-clutter could generate some ebayables too.

    Feeling back on it!!!!!!!!

Here's to a happy and successful debt busting 2015 for all of us!

  • Good morning all!

    2015- yay!

I must admit, I was fairly hungover yesterday- oops! Fun night had by all though and a nice way to round off the festive season.

Managed to resist the (great) urge to order in takeaway last night so made NYD a no-spend day.

Planning to get the tree down later today, pack away the decorations, and get the house re-organised (looks rather as though Christmas has exploded in it at the moment!).

Paid a cheque in the other day so should squeeze under £28k soon.

  • Just checking in- determined to post tedious rubbish on here daily in 2015 as visiting my diary definitely helps to keep me on track!

Slipped under the £28k mark yesterday, now to use the rest of the month to get as close to £27k as possible.

Planning to get a VERY frugal meal plan for the week drawn up today, and shop for what we need. We have a whole chicken in the freezer so will get that out to have tomorrow. Might do some batch cooking for the freezer too.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

  • Thanks Crunch!! Yes, I'm sure there is lots of frugal shopping going on at the beginning of Jan! :D It's nice to see lots of other people approaching 2015 with renewed debt-busting enthusiasm, I seem to have found several lovely new DFW diaries to subscribe to today :)

We managed to get our weekly food shop done for £40! Helped that most of the meat for the week was already in the freezer but even so, that's good going for us.

DH and I had a long chat about money in the car and have decided to start taking cash out at the beginning of the week rather than relying on debit cards- we are hoping it will help us keep better control of random spends and top up shops if we can SEE the money left in our purse/wallet. Been trying to convince him to do it for ages so pleased he is finally on board with the idea, he even suggested it today! Think it will really help :T

Anyway, I'm now off for a few slices of homemade pizza and a (non-alcoholic!) glass of sparkling elderflower- yum :)

Glad husband is on board and making suggestions. Mine is a bit hit and miss sometimes but it always feels better when he is fully involved. I'm going to try and do cash out again. It makes lots of sense - thanks for the tip! Crunchy x
