Our Journey to a Debt Free 2016

Morning PP, so sorry to hear of your tenant troubles, I completely understand and it's such a horrible out of control feeling and just so frustrating, we had exactly this at the start of the year which is why our debt free journey has been slower than planned. We ended up having to involve solicitors to give them notice in a heavy-handed fashion as they had avoided all our attempts at communication. This then motivated them into contacting the council to ask for the rent to be paid directly to us with them topping up with a small amount each fortnight. It cost us £600 for the solicitor but life feels quite a bit more secure since all that.
I really hope it works out better for you, we found this ALWAYS happened in December /JanDebt Oct '13 - [STRIKE]£44,076[/STRIKE] £41,578 5.7% cleared0 -
You are right DF, onwards and upwards!
Thanks Daisystar, it is actually reassuring to hear you got your tenant back on the rails. Did you manage to recoup the arrears? If £600 is all it takes to get it sorted out I'll be a happy girl. It's a lot of money but could be far worse! :cool:Total Starting Debt August 2014- £38,061

I hate it when that happens Daisystar!!!! Been there!
It seems things aren't quite as bad as feared tenant wise as we have heard that our agents now get the money direct from the council (not sure how that came about), and we should get the next payment before Christmas. Still doesn't quite add up to me given the sporadic payment history but DH spoke to the agents not me and we've been like passing ships for the last week so I'm not fully up to date! Knowing the rent (most of it) goes direct to us makes me feel a lot better). Been madly busy with fluey coughing fever ridden children and work stuff so not had a chance to get on here much either!Total Starting Debt August 2014- £38,061

Ah hope the kiddies are ok
It's the same story here, winter bugs are rubbish
Good news for you on the rent front (hopefully) I've got all my fingers crossed for you. If it does go pear shaped I'll fill you in on what we did but I won't bore you with it unnecessarily!! It's all in my diary too if you ever want to refer to it. I'm hoping you won't have to tho!
Hope all is good with you and the numbers are still fallingDebt Oct '13 - [STRIKE]£44,076[/STRIKE] £41,578 5.7% cleared0 -

Not been on here much recently, just so busy with other stuff!
Only 13 days left of 2014!
I'm so looking forward to 2015 and some fresh focus after a 'messy' December financially!
Things aren't looking too bad here, we have a few hundred pounds left in our account until the end of the month which we will need to make last- should be doable. January's pay has already gone in so we will be doing our utmost not to dip into it. It does annoy me a bit the way employers do that as it makes things confusing for a few weeks!Total Starting Debt August 2014- £38,061
