Been a bit quiet this week due to the dreaded sickness bug hitting our house. NOT FUN.
Not only has it not been fun it has also been expensive as we have spent money we wouldn't have done other wise on things like rented movies and toys to occupy ill children, wine to maintain our sanity, and pricey impulse top up shops to keep us going. Oh, and extra cleaning supplies!
On a more positive note I hopefully have another £100 of income hitting my account this week, and it *touch wood* looks as though we will finally get our utilities refund on Friday, with an extra £60 compensation on top.
Current account isn't looking too bad so we might be able to skim off enough to get under £30k at the very end of the month... IF expected payments for various things appear in our accounts.
Finding myself more and more stressed about Christmas spending, I seem to be suffering from a major issue with slackening the reins a bit on the frugal frontier! Have decided to CTFO a bit (chill the f*** out) and write December off to some extent. The thing is, we have done so well on overpayments since we started in August- paying 3 or 4 times the minimum payments- which is all great... but we HAVE to spend money on Christmas even if we are very careful with it, so might as well ENJOY spending what we have to, and be relaxed (but smart) about it.
We already have lots of snacky food bought, and some wine. DH and I have agreed not to bother with anything but token presents to each other. We have set a £30-£40 limit for presents for our children from us. They are still young enough not to understand the value of money gift wise and will be spoilt by everyone else anyway. Christmas itself will be spent away with extended family so we will need to contribute fairly to that but all in all I reckon it we can do it ALL (tree, food, drink, presents) with £500. So, planning to set a low CC target of £200 next month, and anything else will be a bonus.
Now the decision has been made I can stop worrying about it and start looking forward to ENJOYING it, and make the extra expenditure really count- lots of happy memories, smiles, laughter, and fun.
Lucky you being married to a butcher DF!!!!! Yum! Of course I will keep in touch! Who knows what the future holds... perhaps we will suffer a major setback and you'll have a windfall in the meantime! DF dates are all a bit finger in the air aren't they... x

Wise words regarding Christmas PinkPoppies! There is no point being so frugal you cant enjoy it. Its the laughter and memories that count anyhow.

Skimmed £90 off our current account today and onto the CC. I know I go on and on about how time flies but wow, November has been the quickest month yet! Payday is less than a week away, how did that happen???
