Quick coffee before while I dry off after a very wet school run, and then down to some work.
The meat I defrosted for this evening looks rather past it's best so will have to rustle up something from the cupboards later; better safe than sorry. Have a couple of big baking potatoes so I'm sure I'll find something to top them with. Determined not to step foot in a supermarket again until the weekend!Total Starting Debt August 2014- £38,061

How did I forget. Last night I read your update but didn't have time to comment. I totally know where you are coming from with the spending less, living more lifestyle/thoughts/feelings. I LOVE the DF challenge and seeing my progress and the feeling of achievement. It's just as well I have something to do when I am DF as I think life without a goal would be boring for me! Very thought provoking post xxDebt - CCV £3792

ah pinkpoppies I feel the same. We only spent about £40-50 on toddler.....he hasn't even touched some of the little presents we bought him!!
And again, we had a lovely Christmas period. I haven't even asked friends or friends children what they got for Christmas as it just seems so unimportant compared to whether they had a lovely time with their family and friends! I'm going to make sure next year we focus on using it to celebrate the end of the year and all we feel grateful for instead of focussing on presents.....isn't that the idea anyhow?
I'm loving the DF journey too. It really makes me think about what I really want out of life. I just worry that people get annoyed with my constant talking about what I would and wouldn't spend my money on. Everyone has different values.

It's definitely a good thing that we are enjoying it!
Perhaps you are right that it is the working towards a goal that is motivating DF?
I earned £70 that I wasn't expecting to yesterday evening which was nice, so another bit paid off last night.
£470 left to find to get under £27k before the end of the month. Both DH and I have been very good with our spending this week so I'm feeling optimistic that we'll get there!Total Starting Debt August 2014- £38,061

Manic weekend here! Various children's birthday parties to ferry the kids off to, weekly shop to do, family to visit... won't have time to catch my breath!
Hopefully a very low spend weekend though. We have done well with not spending this week so another £71 skimmed out of our main account.Total Starting Debt August 2014- £38,061

Just catching up PP - totally agree with the feelings about the DF journey - Less is More and all that:) I also went through the phase of feeling embarrassed about talking with friends about the huge debt we carry but once I got over it it transpired most were in same boat
I too have a very good friend who has 'conspicuous wealth' however she and her OH have worked hard to get there and continue to, so............ the best is that they don't shove it in your face. In my circle of friends one has fallen by the wayside because she could't accept that some us, despite working FT, cannot afford multiple spa weekends a year, meals out and cruise holidays 2/3 times a year. She p*ssed everybody off and has 'moved on' shall we say.
Onwards and upwards ( well downwards really) PP

Onwards and downwards indeed Igamogam! You don't need friends like that. There are SOOOOOO many ways to enjoy time with friends without spending a fortune.
Not much to report here. I'm afraid we succumbed to the temptation of a takeaway last night but otherwise doing ok!
Our busy weekend seems to have left our house in a mess, really need to knuckle down and blitz it but lacking energy.
Been busy working today and didn't manage to fit in our weekly shop at the weekend either. Rustled up a healthy meal for the children after school though and I think there is enough leftover chilli in the fridge for DH and I to have later. Will have to get to Lidl tomorrow.

Productive day here today!
Got the weekly shop done and only spent £45 (excited to find £1 bunches of daffodils back in the shops!), worked solidly for the rest of the day, and blitzed a tonne of cleaning AND cooked a roast dinner!
