Paint Stripper poured on car

So it seems like someone is against me and has poured paint stripper on my car. Its basically thin lines, thick green stuff. My issue now is what to do? Its basically on the bonnet, side of the car and boot.

I don't want to get the insurance involved as they will increase my premium. I and going to take it to the garage to get a quote but I have a feeling it will cost £600+

If i Just left it what would happen? Rust?

I can see the primer is still there it. It looks like they used Nitromors.

Thanks

It will need stripping back to bare metal the stripper will be embedded into the primer even if it hasnt removed it.

They wont be able to paint over it.

You can tell it was Nitromors just be looking at it? You'll be able to tell then that it etches down to bare metal and, depending if it's a Lada or a Roller, you leave it or repair it. Then again, perhaps sorting out your redneck issues before repairing the bodywork?

If the boot onside and bonnet and other pieces has been done over like trim, rubber pieces that will shrink and burn, a full respray would be my recommendation especially if you have a metallic or mica based paint (look nice and sparkly), or if solid you may get away with doing half a car and buffing the rest to match. either case the parts affected by the paint stripper would need to go back to metal, a barcoat isolater put on, then primer base and lacquer. your talking £8-900 in a back street garage no guarantee and line of sight warranty, or a good body shop, your talking £1800-2500.

if you could do with the lines (which will only worsen over time) then just pressure wash the whole car thoroughly wash it down good get everything off that resembles paint stripper and buy the doors wings bumper and bonnet and hatch off ebay in the same colour piece by piece when you can afford it and throw a mechanic some cash to fit them all.

SO at the end of the day it will cost me a lot of money. The car is only a 2006 ford fiesta 1.4 worth about 2700 quid. Its 100% Nitromors as it is green and thick. Its eaten away at the top paint which is metallic single lines. So if it is left the metal will start to rust?

Yes, if bare metal is exposed.

if the metal is exposed just use a high tack masking tape on it temporarily until you take it to a body shop.

Absolute scum who did it, but you gotto be careful with jealous/petty neighbours.

Nitromors is clear and evaporates relatively quickly.

Is it possible a local moron has found a bottle of something and "hilariously" poured it onto your car and unfortunately what they found affected the paintwork. Look around for an empty bottle.

It might not be the neighbours ... what if it's the dealer that sold him the car (see posting history) .... or a random passing scr0te.

Nitromors is expensive for vandals etc.

What you have sounds more like a DIY store cheapy paint-brush restorer.

Same effect (but slower) though at a fraction of the cost.

Unless other cars in the street were also damaged I think you were targeted and that would worry me as to what is going to happen once the car has been repaired or replaced.

is this the 2006 Fiesta that you recently bought and were in dispute with the dealer?

one of your last posts in that thread ended
I have decided to write a formal letter to the trader, asking him to fix the problems with the car or I will see him in the county court.

what is your relationship with the selling dealer like at the moment?
