Firstly apologies for my absence, I have been very down for the last few weeks and wood and trees comes to mind. Needless to say I am now feeling a little better (St Johns Wort) and feel I actually want to start doing things again. No 1 is to speak to you lot. :D Allthough it may be a bit sporadic over the next few weeks. Also as you can probably figure my sleep patterns are still out.

News wise - my SIL has been diagnosed with cancer and has just done her first round of chemo, OH has had a bad virus which has affected his condition and is off for another scan in 3 weeks - this time to view his heart via his oesophagus as his breathing rate is up after the virus (still no real commitment on his treatment:eek: ) My 7 yr old was attacked by 2 yobs on our street corner which is still under investigation. (I had better not find out who they are) result- him scared of going out and me wanting a move away from here double quick.

0S wise, we have nearly lost the killer overdraft, £400 left to go - 2k paid back. :T :T :T :T after next month the aim is to close down the overdraft facility and to work on repaying our niece 1k. That should the leave about £2800 on the loan which may go on standby until after xmas, I haven't done the sums yet but the kids will have a good xmas and the loan is still coming down by £90 per month if we do that.

Tommorrow was meant to be a trip to Pwllheli to visit rellies, but they have cancelled due to the weather forecast (OH was going out with them on the boat fishing) and as a picnic was promised we will probably go and visit Penmaenmawr beach instead, plenty of room for them to burn off some energy there. That should free up tommorrow afternoon to clear out the back garden as I am off this week and some me and tapestry time is in order, particulary in the fresh air.:j
Lunch tomorrow will be egg or cheese and tom. rolls, Melton Mowberry pork pies (sp) followed by fruit and a HM victoria sponge. Our tea will be a chicken casserole which I will put in the SC before we go out.

48cnf2s.gifHugs to all of you that need one.

Good morning Smoky, and all who post later.

So sorry to hear about the awful time you and those close to you are going through at the moment. Attacked by thugs at the age of 7? That is just horrific - how old where the kids that went for them?

I'm posting in the daily thread for the first time in what seems like ages. I've been fighting the need to do stuff in an OS / moneysaving way for the past few weeks and went over my budget in June by almost £300. Thats now on a credit card and I will have to work hard over the next couple of months to get rid of it *sigh*. At the end of June I sat down with DH and said that I was just finding it too hard to feed everyone on £30 odd quid a week, so we went through all our outgoings and re-jigged out budget. On the plus side the food / cleaning spend has gone up to £50 a week - however we now share a mobile (I've cancelled mine and DH has a PAYG), have dropped down to basic cable and will have to cut back on how much diesel we use (hard as we cannot use public transport if we take the kids out - it works out more expensive than it would cost in diesel plus one of our children needs wheelchair access)

Feeling relieved that the budget is bigger weekly as our allotment has really taken a battering from the rain and wind this summer and it isn't going to be as productful (is that a real word?) this summer as it has been in the past couple of years.

OS plans for today are to get a menu plan sorted for the coming week, spend some time sewing - I'm starting to get quite a pile of kids clothes with missing buttons or small rips, and to get DH to go into the loft and bring back down the ice-cream maker and SC that I got him to put up there last week as it was taking up too much worktop space!

Have a good day, everyone. Looks like it is going to rain here all day :(

    Good morning,

smokybabe sorry you and yours are having a bad time of it right now. Lets hope you turn a corner soon. ((hugs))
oldMcDonald I recently sat down and worked out my figures too. Feeling quite a bit happier as I now have a clear idea of the state of my finances. shame about your allotment though.
JillD you asked on yesterday's thread about the gifts I had bought for teachers, etc. For the headteacher I got a bottle of red wine reduced from £9.99 to £4.99. For the school secretary (who is also a friend btw) I bought a Harrods scarf that had been mispriced in their sale, was £39.95, should have been £19.95 in the sale but it was mispriced at £9.95. For DD's teacher I have a Sanctuary spa weekend set worth £10 that I got as a free gift when I bought two other products and for the two teaching assistants I bought two luxury boxes of chocolates at a Cadbury outlet store. Should have been £5.49 each and got both for £5. Not bad, huh?
PenPen good luck with the Race for Life.

Indulged in some wine last night and I'm now paying for it as I can't sleep. Been up since 3.30am. At least I don't have anything that MUST be done today so I can have a lazy day. I will be making a couple of lasagnes though. One can be used for dinner tomorrow and the other can be frozen. Will probably make some soup too.

Last week of school this week. :j DD has her leavers' assembly on Wednesday morning and I know I will cry my eyes out. :o It's the end of an era.

Anyway, going to go back to bed now and hopefully get some more sleep.

    Have a super Sunday. xx

Morning SMOKY and OLDMCDONALD :hello: :hello: - so good to see you both posting again but sorry to hear about all the troubles and worries you both have; I really hope things pick up for you. I can't believe yobs would attack a seven-year old. (((hugs))) to him. SMOKY - I'm glad the St John's wort has helped - I must tell my sister who is feeling quite down at the moment. OLDMCDONALD - good luck with the new budget.

From yesterday's posts, thanks TWINK - I loved the link re carbolic soap - a real trip down memory lane and some good ideas for pressies for my older relatives!
MEANMARIE - congrats on becoming debt free! Well done!
DONNY-GAL - thanks for the link re Jodi Picoult books. I haven't read one yet so I want to get one soon!

Well, I was up early but I don't really mind this morning - I have some letters to catch up on to friends who probably think I've been abducted by aliens so at least I can get on with those while I have time to myself! I have so much ironing that I can make a start on that soon and I want to get up to the paper shop early so I don't miss the free Prince CD the Mail on Sunday are giving away today! Then - at about 10am - I'll probably be looking to have a nap!

The weather looks reasonable this morning - yesterday turned out to be wonderful here. We took the grandchildren out to buy new footballs - it's the first time they've been in a 4x4 (DH's 'new' car) and they wanted to sit in the seats at the very back of the car - poor deprived things, they were SO excited about it!

Anyway, I'm going to go now and get on with my letters!

Catch up with you all later and hope you all have a fantastic Sunday!!

Edited to send GOOD LUCK to PENPEN today!!

AMIE - I'm not sure how to post a link but if you look on yesterdays' thread (about page 4, I think) TWINK has a link ( I like that - it rhymes so well!) to a site that sells all the nostalgic cleaning stuff - a real trip down memory lane!

    Hello everybody,

I caught up with my ironing pile this morning. Had an early lunch, then DH, Benny & I went over the other island. We wanted to check out a house that's just like ours that they started to build before we left. Without bias I can honestly say ours is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy nicer. :D Went round the back (they weren't home) it's their holiday home  and pressed my nose to the glass to see inside (as you do :D) again, no comparison. ;)

Pen Pen Good luck with the run today.
Smoky How awful for your DS. Unbelievable. No wonder you've been down in the dumps lately. ((((hugs))))

Having HM Pizza for tea tonight with leftover pudding. DD should be home with lots of freebies for me. :T It will be mainly stationary, no need to get too excited. :D Hope you all have a lovely day. Byeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Morning everyone, another early riser here, who quite enjoys mornings and the peace of no one else up, its liberating somehow.

Smokey so pleased to see your piccies again, but sorry to hear your news :grouphug: :grouphug: to you and anyone else in need/or justs feels like one.

Just heard the news about low earners dont necessarily eat poorly, I think if they looked at many on here, people with little to spare eat better! I have just realised we are not doing our 5 a day fruit and veg. so going to have a discussion with DH later as he is not a fan, when I suggest buying things he just says I'm not bothered and if I just buy them he doesnt eat them anyway (I do though so get what I like!) but because it is frustrating to cook two different meals not having as much as I should. Must look up the page which tells you what a portion is.

Found we had some storm damage from the other week, when a door would not shut properly, looks like a new kitchen and entrance porch floor!!  Insurance on the case.:grouphug: :grouphug::grouphug: :grouphug::grouphug: :grouphug:

Have a nice Sunday dry here at the moment, but overcast, so good for the running Pen-Pen - good luck.
