Just initiated a switch to an existing Reward Current Account from an unused Lloyds Vantage account that had no debit card associated with it nor any SOs or DDs.

I've not had a switching bonus since 2012 so hopefully I am still eligible.

Question is, will my existing Halifax £1500 overdraft limit become fee free for 6 months? Could be a good use of free credit. Ts&Cs suggest yes but I imagine this is intended for new customers.

You can have a fee-free O/D facility as an existing customer too.

Whether you think it's worth paying £30-35 (which is 6-7 months loss of Reward payments) for this "fee-free" facility is a different matter!

I have a Nationwide FlexDirect account I could use as a donor account. It currently has £1 in it and no SO or DD. Should I top it up to say £50 before the switch or just leave it as £1?

Personally I'd set up a couple of £5 SOs to savings accounts and dump £50 in there...which is what I did for both Co-op and M&S earlier this year.

You are not eligible for this offer if you have received £100 for switching to a Halifax bank account at any point since January 2012.
They're slipping up there. If you got a bonus payment in January 2012 it's arguable what that means (although since* a date can include the date too, I suppose)

    *since
    sɪns
    preposition, conjunction, & adverb

in the intervening period between (the time mentioned) and the time under consideration, typically the present.

Thanks. Did you set the SOs to end when the £50 ran out?

No. Set them up to pay as soon as possible and initiated the switch as soon as I'd seen them actioned. Then let them pay out once or twice from the new account before cancelling them.

Might be a stupid question, but are standing orders, which I set up, as valid as DDs which I've agreed to but in reality come from a firm, such as Npower or Debenhams?
