Very Sorry Albertross but I don't know what the gateway address is.
I have curtailed the families gaming today. It's 8.50 and only 0.13GB used! My son has admitted to downloading lots of demos recently so it does look like the 360 is the problem.
Thanks for all your interest. I wonder how many other people are getting this problem?
I also don't know who "Hugh Bandwidth" is. Sorry too about the spelling!!

Albertross, I just tried the ipconfig thing, and all I get is a subliminal view of a dos command box for something like 1/10 of a second, and then I'm back to the windows screen! Any ideas?0 -

It's difficult to say how much Xbox or PC games use because it depends on the individual game and how much data it needs to exchange for the game play. Having said that I've not come across many that use tons of data per hour simply because they need to be playable on lower speed or shared connections.
If you're concerned that you're getting close to your ISP's monthly limits I'd also look elsewhere for the source of this as on their own I've never met anyone who's maxed out just on games. Music / video downloads, P2P or similar might be prime suspects.
Bandwidth can be either transfer or speed.0 -

That's the problem, the black box just flashes up and disappears! No time to read whether there's anything in it, never mind typing something into it!0 -
Sorry Albertross, I mis-read your last posting - -yes, that works, thanks!0

nope, bandwidth is speed - well its technically not but the speed is directly related to the available bandwidth.0 -

What is your problem, following me around.
Some people refer to bandwidth as how much you are allowed to download and then others refer bandwidth to the speed.
Tell em have you had any computer education? If not dont post stupid posts and stop stalking me on these forums.0
