Piglet to Gazelle - My weight loss journey

I did used to attend my local gym with my mum and sister and it was a lovely bonding activity but now they have both relocated up North. I would spend 11hrs min in the gym doing a mixture of gym workouts and classes, getting home around 8.30 - 9.30. This was before we got the furry kids though. It's now quite difficult to commit to a specific time as my husband does night shift work and I do not feel safe walking back from the gym to my house that late.
Theres plenty you can do at home, buy a kettlebell and some skipping ropes plus some free weights and some bodyweight exercises. You are already doing some stuff at home, shouldn't be too hard to incorporate some more into your existing routine.0 -
Just wanted to give you some encouragements First Trouble, well done for the willpower on Sunday, you must have been so close to thinking that you shouldn't bother because of the rain.
I remember the struggle to exercise when the kids were small, so I made a pact to myself to exercise whenever I was able to go to the gym, rather than telling myself I should make the best of my children free moments to do something else. It was hard because I also wanted to go shopping without interruption, go and see a friend for an adult only talk, go the hair dresser, or be home with no obligations for a couple of hours and then tell myself that these were more important than exercising! However, the energy that exercising gave me meant that I coped better with distracting shopping, or crave less being home doing nothing.
Good luck on your journey.0 -

Thanks Purpleshoes,
The run I did on Sunday has given me a shinier outlook on the whole exercise front. Made me realise that I had been looking at it like a chore rather than an enjoyable exercise. I also did the 3 miles without my ankle support and it didn't twinge at all so I think I will treat myself to a skipping rope. I used to love skipping as a kid. That voice in your head that says you can’t do this is a LIAR!

Thanks FBaby,
Yes I was very tempted to not go but I had been looking forward to a nice peaceful Sunday run through the park and I was a bit put out when I saw the rain. At the end of the day I am waterproof! It also helps that I have a running belt that is water resistant.
I am really feeling it today though very sore but so worth it.
When I used to run it was my time, just me, the park and my music. Pure bliss! I think I need to take that time back for me.That voice in your head that says you can’t do this is a LIAR!
