  • So there we have it three days in a row I ate something I shouldn't.
Could use the 'it's that time of the month excuse' but think this would be a cop out.
Kind of kicking myself as I have a night out with the girls next week which I was planning on letting myself have the night off (cocktails and meal out), followed by two night outs with my husband to celebrate his birthday (curry just us two and pool night with family and friends).
I know I won't be drinking on the last two.

  • I really dont think you should be beating yourself up over a bit of cheesecake and some jaffa cakes

Separating food into good food and bad food isnt healthy and wont help you in the long run

What concerns me most is that there are days where your cals are still way too low

I also think that unless you start doing some tougher exercise (if you are able to) your results might be slow.

Everyone needs a night off sometimes, I have them, what I dont do is beat myself up if I wanted a bit of choc or whatever it is that Ive eaten, have it, enjoy it and remember that its occasional.

Plus, even some very healthy eating programmes allow for the occasional bit of choc

My brother is a PT and Im just about to head out and meet him for dinner and I guarantee he'll have something with chips and wont beat himself up for whatever that something (not so healthy) will be

Its how you eat most of the time that matters.
  • Thanks purpleshoes, sometimes I just need a reality check.
I do need to get back into my exercise as I have been letting this drop by the way side of late. I now have a mat and weights so no excuses.

Trouble is I leave for work at 7.45am and return home at 7pm. Shall have to sit down over the weekend and work out a schedule for myself for the week. I have also asked my husband that if my motivation starts to wane can he give me a little push as sometimes I need that. He is very supportive and has said that he will do a workout with me :)

When you say tough exercise what type of exercise do you mean?
In my exercise arsenal I have:-

    Step
    2kg hand weights
    a mat
Vicky Entwistles WOW (DVD) - 55mins (medium intensity)
30 day Shred Gillian michaels - 20mins (high intensity)
Exercise workout from my trainer friend
    Running/jogging
    Walking the dog

You arent really doing the tough stuff just now though looking at your exercise routine, its mostly walking.

What workout has your trainer friend put together for you?

Tbh, Id be saying lift weights (heavy) with supervision and someone who is qualified to put a programme together for you.

High Intensity Interval Training and walking is fine.

The 2kg weights wont really do very much for anyone, I know some people might disagree there but even at very high repetitions theres not enough weight to make much of a difference to anyone's shape or size or definition

I would agree with this 100%, there are loads of woman at my gym that have got great shapely figures from lifting heavy. 'heavy' weights, compound movements (squats / deadlifts etc.) and low reps will work wonders, but you need to do this with someone qualified.

I have been really bad on exercise lately just doing my usual work day plus a bit of extra walking. Hence why I want to do a schedule to make sure I fit it in.

    "The workout is as follows.
    Squats – 3 x 12
    Lunges – 3 x 12
    Press-ups – 3 x 12
    Triceps press-ups – 3 x 12
    Sit-ups – 3 x 12
    Plank – 3 x 1 min holds

Do this 4 times a week, build up to 20 reps as you become fitter and stronger."

I could also work weights into this too. She teaches classes and her husband is a Personal Trainer.
Unfortunately I cannot get to a gym and don't have space at home currently for anything bigger than hand weights. (would love to have a custom gym at home but that is a few years off atm as we would have to move).

The 2kg are ok for me atm I definitely feel them after a workout and they are heavier than the ones I used to use at the gym. I do plan to increase weights over time but storage space is an issue also we are trying to pay off debts so money isn't always free flowing.

Sorry I feel like one of those people that make up excuses on why they can't do exercise but I really am not just want to work with what I have and improve on it at home.

do you have any outside space you could use?

if you could get a small sized 'duffel' bag you could fill it with pea gravel (cheap) and use it as a sandbag.
