You still have be available for and actively seeking work.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

But I could as easily not have been, that's my point. No one really questioned it. I didn't end up getting any summer work. I was just signing on until my job started up in September, I didn't make a secret of it. There's nothing to stop anyone starting uni in september and signing on in the meantime, either while actually looking for summer work, or "looking for summer work...sort of". I don't see why daily signing is appropriate in this case at all, it doesn't change anything other than deprive someone of twenty quid spent on bus fares for no real reason.0

I will say again - DWP should only be making another claiming JSA sign on daily if they have been claiming the benefit for at least 2 years.
This is wrong. Those under 25 and deemed to be needing additional support can be required to sign on daily. As mentioned they should be able to claim travel expenses for visits that are not on their normal signing day.You are claiming because you can within the rules whether you really intend to work or not during that period and despite the fact you don't actually need the money for your everyday needs. They are asking you to come in every day again because they can too despite the fact they probably know it wine help you gain employment. Rules can be stretched on both sides.
The OP is not within the rules if they are not actively seeking work - their post implies they are not.0 -
Actually there is a very simple way to avoid having to sign on every day ......find a job to keep you going until you start at uni. Who knows it might be flexible enough to keep on after you start studying and need to top up on student finance.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I don't see why I should give you money to sit on your backside until September though.
The clue is in the name of the benefit "Job seekers" .
(I say this as a fulltime undergraduate student who also works 33 hours a week so don't tell me I don't understand- I do ! Stop sponging and join the real world) and do stop whining !I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

mattcanary wrote: »What is the point in looking for work (unless temporary) when he will be letting the employer down in 5 weeks time anyway, by going to university?
As others have said: Temporary roles.
I had a job starting in 2 weeks. Still had to prove that I was looking for temp roles even if they were only a day long until I signed off. Thats the norm...0
