And on subsidising your children for the rest of their lives because you'd be ashamed to take any money from them.:)

I would rather my children save their money to enable them to get a house

You are wrong, I've not spent on any personal wants and saved all my money, £260k up so I will be mortgage and bill free the rest of my life, any income from now on can be spent 100% on personal wants

What about your parents' personal wants?

Will you be wanting any of their money/property when they pass on? Think of it as an investment...They might decide to give all of their possessions to charity and I wouldn't blame them if they did.

Will you allow them to spend the entire value of the family home on personal care in their last few years of their life? You'd be left with nothing but at least they'll have the best possible private care available...or should that be up to the taxpayer to provide as they do to many elderly who have not had the opportunities in life as your parents have had. Will you try and convince them to transfer the property into your name so they can avoid paying for the best care? I read so many threads on here form posters trying to do the exact same thing.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Why is having your child in your house means they don't have a life?

I don't understand it at all, its as if you are saying parents hate their children and don't want to see them except from the odd visit once a month, I don't get it, wheres the love!?
