For what it is worth, I too had no problems with any aspect of Jet2 (and I flew with them many times) UNTIL they cancelled my flight back to the UK, washed their hands of me and effectively left me stranded. When I complained and asked them to address the problem (as was my legal right by the way) they just simply lied to me and continued to lie to me. I am sure that many people would have accepted that what they were saying was true and not pursued it any further and I firmly believe that that was their object.
I cannot comment with any authority on whether other airlines would take the same course of action if they were in the same position but I feel sure that some of them would.

Well I've only flown a couple of times with Ryanair and Jet2 (prefer Easyjet and Monarch), and would rather deal with the 'Ryanair rotties' than the 'Jet2 poosies'. No problems at all with either of them from Manchester or Leeds, but as posted earlier, the 'poosies'... lived up to their description on the way back on both flights (the Ryanair 'furriners' were pretty good).

Suppose it depends on your airport and whether you're trying to take a wardrobe on as hand-luggage, but I'm more inclined to get the microscope out and book with the 'dreaded O'Leary' if no EZY/MON available (yes, the Jet2 site is heaps better, shame the service isn't).

Lewroll's story is interesting, rustyboy, here's the link https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3070460

It might be useful for future reference if any airline attempts to deny you your absolute re-routing rights.

Firstly, Who are you? I haven't even brought you into this discussion, so if I 'seem' to have upset you in anyway, it had nothing to do with me. I don't know you from Adam and have not come across any of your posts and had any interaction with you at any time on this site, so get off your high horse and leave me out of your little quarrels.

Just looking back on something Richard posted, I see you are brought into it by him, he was not making much sense, so I didn't bother to look at your posts, so don't know your story.

If you have an issue with being brought into this post, then blame your friend Richard, who still hasn't responded to my request of asking for his personal experience of flying with Jet2, who as I have stated above have a very good reputation and have better ratings than a lot of other airlines, which cost a lot more.

If this is some kind of class action to slate the operations of Jet2, then it is a very feeble one. Everyone else, who has posted, has had personal experience of using Jet2 and has had a good service. You yourself have stated that you had flown with them MANY times with no issue. But you seem to be wanting to slate them after one poor experience.

I don't know what it is with certain people on this site, but at times it looks like a witch hunt on companies who have messed up, and people who wont let it rest until they are closed down or lose business. It looks a bit sick at times.

Considering your last posts regarding jet2 are from over 10 months ago and your original post over 3 years ago, it looks suspiciously like you may have been PM'd to come and comment.

    Very strange

I agree that you did not bring me into this conversation but you are definitely the one who chose to label me a 'moaner' without, on your own admission, even bothering to read what happened. You are the one who needs to get off their high horse not me.
I categorically have not 'slated' Jet2 as you opine, I have just stated the facts, believe or not believe as you will, but suffice to say they settled it to my satisfaction.
If you read the facts and believe that what they did to me was fair then I sincerely hope the same doesn't happen to you.
I am not conducting a witch hunt, dancing to anyone else's tune or trying to close or lose Jet2 business, something even you will be able to deduce from your own investigation into my posts.
Kindly refrain from trying to use me as a stick to beat richardw with.

I didn't read any of your posts prior to your comments above. I didn't even see your name, or click on the link above to your thread, prior to your post yesterday, it was all getting a bit strange, with the other poster bringing up huzar's name and not taking notice of anyone elses posts which contradicted what he was saying.

You must agree, apart from the incident which you had, you had good service from Jet2, had no issue to complain and were quite happy flying with them. This, as well as the millions of people who have flown satisfactorily with them over the years, should stand for more than the odd 1 or 2 bad issues people ( like you ) may have had.

The 'moan' I stated, was not directly aimed at you. How could it, when I hadn't even read your posts. But you must agree, that the mentality of some posters on this site, leaves a lot to be desired. They seem to thrive on put the knife in and then do it again and again, until there is nothing left, which is a bit sick IMO.

It is regrettable that you feel I was poking fun at you, however, How could I when I didn't even know who you are and read any of your posts?

The OP asked for views on booking and flying with Jet2 or Ryanair. All the posts bar yours and another poster, were of a positive nature. They are a good airline, but as have been said, things go wrong and how they deal with it then is a factor, unfortunately yours was a bad result. But how many others work out good? I would say a lot more.

The issue I have with this new regs is that it is set more in favour of the passenger, not a level playing field. Years ago, when you had a delay, the airline used to put you up in a hotel, pay for your food and get you on the earliest flight, which I feel is fair, for extenuating circumstances. If you look at the Huzar case as an example, this was done, but then he goes after the compensation, which IMO is set far, far too high to justify the delay of the flight. It should be set as accommodation and food, full flight refund for both sectors, so you have not paid them at all for their service, not ,say, 3000e It just seems wrong. But there again, it is someone who thinks I will have a go at them in vengeance and not stop until I get what 'I' want, It is strange that it appears no one else on that flight has made such a fuss.

Anyway back to topic, even you have agreed that they are a decent airline, bar that incident. Only leaves one other to give his experience of flying with Jet2.

If you had taken the trouble to read my post on this and/or the earlier thread properly there would have been no need for the adverse comments you made in respect of me or my motives and that is what I take issue over. What I posted was factual and exact. Mistakes are made by everyone in this life but in my opinion what measures are taken to rectify these mistakes speak volumes about the individual or in this case, the company and their ethics. Whether you agree with my opinion or not, I have every right to hold and express it (as you do yours) without being the object of villification by anyone.
