We're talking leaving a family at Malaga for 27 hours and not taking reasonable measures to get them back to North west England.

Malaga is one of Europe's busiest airports and there were numerous opportunities for Jet2 to re-route the Huzar family, but they delayed them for 27hours.

I'm not at all defending Jet 2, it wouldn't stop me booking them however. If the Huzar affair means you'll never book Jet 2 ever again than fair enough.

Read about what they did to Mr Huzar, then think again.

    You are sensationalising Richard !
They didn't deliberately do anything to Mr Huzar.
The plane broke down. It happens. There are lots of airlines flying 20 year old aircraft.

    Nope.
I'm just highlighting an unacceptably long delay at a busy airport.

Maybe no one should ever fly Jet2 again? And to save the inevitable bankruptcy perhaps the next day they should have realised it was all not worth while and shut up shop completely.

Contrary to the general publics beliefs airlines tend not to do it deliberately just to break the monotony of the day in the ops department.

I'd still book a ticket with them. If I was not to fly with any airline that had ever had a delay measured 20 hours + then I'd probably be stuck with road, rail and sea.

Potential passengers should just be aware of what's happened to others before booking.

And it's only because Mr Huzar has had the drive to take his case as far as he has (fair play) that it's become such a big do.

It's happened to passengers on nearly all carriers at some point or another.

I've only used Jet2 once. Last October I flew with them from Manchester to Rome return.

I was impressed and will use them again. Far better experience than Easy Jet. Lots of leg room and generous luggage allowance.

We took cabin luggage only and I was worried that a handbag would not be allowed but a helpful man in security said Jet2 were very relaxed and no problem. In fact I was amazed at some of the huge cases some of the other passengers were taking on board as cabin luggage! (although this is really probably a bad point!)

Have flown Jet2 loads of times and I love them. They remind me of Britannia airways of old.

Yes the planes are old, I brought that up in another thread, but they are worked on and wouldn't be able to fly , if unsafe. The luggage allowance is great, you can book a full airline meal like the times you went package holiday in the past.

The staff are usually lovely,. In MAN, they have their own dedicated check in in T1, which is the best terminal to fly from. I normally fly from Blackpool, as it is easier and cheaper to park, there are usually no queues anywhere and the flight times are always good. Blackpool is a great little airport, very small, but staff are great.

Don't be put off by Richard. Every airline has its skeletons in the closet. They are a well run airline, tired planes, but safe. Flying to Fuerteventura will most likely be an early morning flight, so you will have no delays, the plane wont have been on any sector beforehand.

Richard there are far worse airlines out there, so why all the narkiness over Jet2? Ryanair have let more people down than Jet2 have, even BA are worse for customer service. What you are not taking into account is that due to this, we may all see an increase in air fares and the possibility that pressure may be put on ground staff and captains, to take a plane out, which may not be repaired totally, just a quick fix, so they are not sued for compo.

Having a delay like that , is part of the reason why we have travel insurance.

Looking at delay statistics for MAN, Jet2 beat Emirates, PIA, United,American, TAP and Monarch on the delay stats. Considering most of them are long haul, so only do 1 flight a day, compared to maybe 4 return flights a day from 6am to midnight out of MAN. This obviously will have a knock on effect due to ATC delays at foreign airports, I think your comments slating them is a little unfair.

What's fair in this kind of treatment to passengers Huzar and lewroll?

The fact Richard is bringing up negative posts from 2011 maybe tells you that Jet 2 is pretty decent otherwise there would be much more recent ones to reference.

In any case my first hand expierance of Jet2 is that they are easily on a par with Easy jet (who i also think are pretty decent) and miles better than Ryan air.

The punctuality and customer service has also been on a par with anything i have had from emirates or BA, although as already pointed their Fleet is nowhere near in the same class as these (but i suppose this is reflected in the price)

You could fly with anybody and have a nightmare but my expierances have all been good with them.
