...... What you are not taking into account is that due to this, we may all see an increase in air fares and the possibility that pressure may be put on ground staff and captains, to take a plane out, which may not be repaired totally, just a quick fix, so they are not sued for compo.....

If Jet2 lose their Supreme Court appeal in Huzar, we won't see an increase in air fares, their profit may slow a while, that's all.

Paying of compensation doesn't influence Captains in their decisions.

Blimey, I go away for 5 mins and it all kicks off :D

Thanks everyone for the further updates !

Have another Q re checked in luggage:

If we don't initially book in a checked case, would we be able to go back to our booking sometime later, and then book a case ?

If it is allowed, would it be more expensive than doing it in initial booking ?

    Q is for both Jet2 & Ryanair

    Thanks
  • Would happily use Jet2 again, booked a holiday to tenerife in Jan with them and they were cheapest and fine.

People can talk a load of cobblers at times

You have mentioned 2 people, who have either come on here to complain, which they have the right to do so, or a man, who had the chance to try and get his way via the courts. A lot of other people just put it down to bad luck, write off to complain, if they feel it necessary or just let it drop. Or claim off their travel insurance .

Jet2 carried 15 million people in the past 3 years and you can only show 2 people who have complained. Yes there will more, but on the whole they have over a 70% satisfaction rating and are classed as a 3 star airline, on par with Easyjet and Flybe. Ryanair is classed as a 2 star one.

If this man wins his appeal, it will open the floodgates to everyone claiming compensation from ALL airlines with regards to delays. It will not just be Jet2 which suffers. If a plane goes 'Tech' with any airline flying out of the UK and Europe, which suffers a delay more than 3 hours, then everyone is entitled to compo. This will make the prices go up, as they try to recoup lost earnings. It will also put undue pressure on pilots to take aircraft up, with minor faults, such as toilets not working, no IFE, faulty non urgent switches, no water, hot drinks, even luggage if there are issues at airports.

I cannot see how you cannot see this as a potential thing which will happen.

Richard Most of the people who have posted on here, have given their experience of Jet2, apart from you. Please let us know your experience of the airline. Where did you fly with them, what was the onboard service like, what was checkin like, your experience of dealing with customer services at Jet2.

You seem to be slating them, but not commenting on other airlines, which give a far worse service and don't want to know you after you have paid them. Perhaps you are BA crew or Ryanair, who knows?

    Please let us know.

I've flown Jet2 lots of times and never found them to be a problem, always had great service and find the aircraft to be comfortable and clean too. I find the level of comfort and service to be a step above ryanair, and more along the lines of Monarch who I also fly with quite a bit. Jet2, Ryanair and Monarch all fly to the airport which I frequent the most when visiting family so I have a lot of experience of all three.

I've also travelled with Jet2 on my own with my young daughter on several occasions and staff have been nothing but short of brilliant, helping me with bags and holding my daughters hand to guide her to our seats etc.

This year I was due to fly to Greece with them for my wedding, along with 12 family members on the same flight. Unfortunately my daughter was taken into hospital a week before we were due to fly and we had to postpone. I called them to ask about amending the flights and they were great, even advising me to cancel and re-book as it would be cheaper rather than paying the admin fees. I claimed the money back from my travel insurance and overall I'm more than happy to book with them again for next year.

Nope, I'm not talking cobblers, rustyboy.

Nothing will happen if Jet2 lose their appeal to the SC, fares will not rise. The low cost yield management model that Jet2 use will still yield great revenues.

Your assumption about pilots is just wrong, they're only concerned with passenger safety, they won't behave in the manner you suggest.

Being concerned over passenger safety yes I agree, but commercial decisions will certainly be brought into the fold.

You still haven't given your personal experience of Jet2, only via the rest of the pitchfork wielding brigade on the thread re Huzar on here.

You cannot condemn an airline from 1 incident, when far bigger players in the sector, have done far worse things. And cannot you accept that Jet2 have a fair to good rating from passengers, equal to, if not greater than a lot of large carriers?

Are you taking about German efficiency, but as Ryanair planes are on average about 18.3 years younger that is understandable.

Don't get me wrong, I personally have no problems with Jet2, indeed I booked a ticket with them for my mother-in law only last month.

The Jet2 staff I have met are good natured smiling !!!!!cats compared to Ryanair's overstressed and overworked rabid rottweilers !
