Won't your Insurance let you print the certificate?

I bought a new car last week, called AXA to change car and was then able to download the certificate within 10 minutes.

With the printed Insurance certificate and the new Keepers part of the V5 I was able to tax the car without any problems at the local Post Office.

Nope, it's DirectLine, won't email or allow you to download the certificate - they say it's a data protection issue, funny how other insurance companies can do it.

Now my car is showing as insured on http://ownvehicle.askmid.com/askmid.aspx but the post office won't accept this as I don't have the paper copy. This system is ridiculous.

    Hi All,

My car's tax runs out in the new year, do I keep my tax disc displayed until this time? Secondly do I simply go online on the date it runs out to renew my tax or do I need to go through a registration process?

From 1st October no need to display the tax disc. On the date it runs out you go online and pay for next 12 months, no registration needed.

Thanks, how much information is required online, e.g. car registration number etc?

Just used my V5 number to do it over the phone valid from Monday - simple and straightfoward.

Anyone know how straightforward changing a reg over to a northern irish number plate is at the minute? A friend is bringing a car over from England for me and I want a NI reg on it. I'm probably being thick but I can't see anything on the nidirect and .gov sites about it, it just says you no longer need to re-register if you're importing from GB - but I want to re-register!
