Why are Ebay uncooperative over safety?

I have left a few messages on Ebay message boards to have them removed and a warning given to me.
The nature of these messages was educating ebay members of my experience.
I bought off a seller who advertised on his listings and encouraged ebayers to buy away from Ebay and off his business site.
I accept I should have walked away and not dealt with this seller as he wanted to deal outside of ebay.
I reported what happened to Ebay and they informed me the seller had breached Ebay policy - but they have done nothing - the seller still advertises on nearly a 1000 listings and encourages ebayers to openly buy direct.
My messages reflecting this on Ebay answer boards have been removed and a threat issued against me by Ebay. I had replies from fellow ebayers stating Ebay don't care about problems on Ebay.
I have asked Ebay for help, legal team contacts at Ebay, all to no avail.
The customer service team can barely sometimes understand English, ridiculous!
You can't suppress problems and raising blacklisting a member for asking why things aren't done to protect buyers from problematic sellers!
Ebay do though! Shocking!

What Consumer Rights issue is there here?
Perhaps your rant would be better placed on either the Praise, Vent & Warnings Board, or the Ebay Board.0 -
Thanks.
The trading standards are involved, and are monitoring the problems I having with the trader - I thought I would mention ebay's involvement, which is incredibly poor.
It isn't a rant, I have been subjected to harassment from the seller because I dared air the issue, and Ebay have taken to suppressing me from making ebayers aware of lack of protection regarding consumer issues.
Cheers,
I won't bother warning anyone again.0 -
No need to throw your toys out of the pram - he was just pointing out this is the wrong board for your post.0

Yes it is.
I'll ask again... what Consumer Right do you feel Ebay are denying you?
Ebay do have the right to remove your input from their forums.
Ebay do have the right to refuse to allow you to use their trading platform.0 -
Yes, I probably should have put this post elsewhere - didn't find a suitable thread - thanks.
Retail sale of goods act '79 I believe was the jest of the consumer right I invoked against the seller who refused to acknowledge I had a right to a refund over goods not as described and faulty.
To the reader.
The point Wealdroam misses is I asked Ebay why they feel they are not responsible in any way whatsoever for letting a seller who has run roughshod over my consumer rights buying over the internet, is allowed to persistently breach not only buyers rights, but to breach a major sites policy.
So we have no consumer rights as a buyer on Ebay, Wealdroam? Wow. Thanks for that. Think Trading standards differ.
By the way, definition of a rant is somewhat different to someone attempting to engage with bloggers, and educate fellow bloggers of a horror story by a major company who look down on users. I'm not angry or upset - merely trying to engage or warn others.
The seller turned out to have a history of not refunding buyers, and keeping customers money, and Ebay I gather are not held in great esteem reading online forums. Didn't realise what a backlash there is against Ebay with customers being left out of pocket and told to shut up.

I buy from a couple of ebay sellers outside of ebay. I save around 10% and I am willing to take the risk of non performance. I am a big boy who has not been totally indoctrinated by the matrix and can weigh up the pros and cons myself.0

When buying from a seller on ebay, your consumer rights are with that seller and not with ebay and that is the point that Wealdroam was making.0 -

This is a pic of mine from another post:
I've raised 19 cases with eBay over the past 12 months and eBay have resolved all of them.
Why does it work when I do it but not you? This doesn't make sense?0 -

19 cases you must choose guf sellers or are buying a shed load of stuff. I have been on ebay over 12 years and you will be lucky if I have started 10 cases in that time.(mind you I probably could have started more if I had not resolved problems via my messages)0 -
Ebay can be very slow to act on reports- however I would prefer them to deal with the real issues rather than concentrate on scammers who operate by getting people to break the rules when they don't understand basic safety issues with regard to online sales.
dealing outside of ebay is not in itself dangerous- I'm sure most buyers and sellers have done it at some point. However the risk is where a buyer or a seller fails to understand the basic rules to keep themselves safe. Ebay does not make things 'safe' the payment method does that and paypal operates outside of ebay as well as on it.
In the past few months i have had a buyer buy something through ebay and when they received it ask me to sell them more- I sent them a paypal invoice , they paid and I sent- they had exactly the same protection as they had on ebay.
Likewise my son bought something and asked the seller if he had other things in the same line- seller did, so my son trundled down to the seller paid cash for the ebay item and negotiated cash for a few more items he wanted- again completely safe for both buyer and seller.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
