Vauxhall Victor 101 De Lux in duotone green, dark green body, light green roof. Registration EXE 532C

3 speed column gear change and bench front seat, so we could get 6 of us in it.

Always thought it was a big car, until I saw one at the Vauxhall Heritage Centre. My Astra is HUGE!! Like all small cars, now, they're actually bigger than older large ones!!

1978 Ford XC Falcon, 4.1 litre (250in³) 92 kW 289 Nm cast-iron crossflow inline 6, 3-on-a-tree automatic, a/c, limited slip diff, metallic green with green vinyl interior, front bench seat (6-seater): $600

Built like a tank: to lift the car up you would attach the jack to either front or rear stainless steel bumper bar.

Got me through the first 2 years of uni.

    Very similar to this:

BTW Ford Australia still manufacture this engine. The base version is now 4.0 litre and develops 195 KW and 391 Nm of torque, and the Turbo version produces 270 KW and 533 Nm. Aftermarket Nizpro kit reliably upgrades this engine to 746 KW 1000 Nm.

Peugeot 106 pre-power steering models. Bullet proof engine, great gearbox, and nothing that could really go wrong driving wise. Most of the problems were inside the car. The seats were horrific, the dash was seriously old fashioned (Even for the time) and the heaters were crap.

1974 Ford Escort Mustardy / Beige colour. Except where the holes were. (Boot floor and front wings mainly)

Had a slight mishap with a wall. Outcome 50/50 Still drove home with half the front missing.

I got with my husband quite young, as in still at school, so first we shared cars.

    Red Ford Escort
Cream Dolomite Sprint and for some reason with paving slabs in the boot
    Orange TR7
    White XR2
    Red Audi Quattro
    White Volvo
    Something French
    BMW Z3
    Audi TT
    Another Audi TT
    BMW Z4
    Merc SLK

Between XR2 and Audi, I got my first ever brand new car for me, came wrapped with a huge bow for my birthday, god I loved it. Here is the embarrassing bit, it was a Fiat Panda ! Was bloody scary to drive up the A3 every day too.

  • 1959 Austin A55 Cambridge bought in 1967 a few months after passing my test (paid £90). Two tone exterior and red leather interior with front bench seat. Column gear change.
I drove my father's MG Magnette in the interim though. That's what I passed my test in too.
