For that price he could have at least hand delivered it.

Oh no - cos then you would want ALL the postage back - and be reporting him for turning up uninvited.

Its actually against Ebay policy to demand money back - and any feedback you leave can then be removed easily.
  • I got a reply from the seller :-

"I agree with your comments. I normally look at other sellers to see what they are charging as a guide at that is where I got the £12.00. I will refund some of the postage over the weekend. This works both ways I had ask a buyer from Australia recently for an extra £10 because I had got the postage wrong for that country and they paid it as they had already realised it was a mistake.

    Regards"

The seller refunded £6.00 via Paypal on Sunday, still charged £2.10 for the "packaging & their time"
Seems the seller just plucks the postage from other similar listings on ebay.
Time to consider what, (if any), feedback to leave &

As they have agreed with your comments, and responded positively and politely, if you do leave feedback I imagine you will leave good feedback and not trash their account.

To be honest, I'm not sure why you bought the item in the first place. You knew exactly what you were buying, and knew that it wasn't heavy or bulky. So, you'd have known that£12 was excessive for postage.

If I don't like the cost of postage.... I don't buy

The fact you received a voluntary partial refund and are still considering leaving dubious feedback tells me all I need to know....

What. That the buyer was unhappy?

What's the point of feedback? If the buyer has to lie about their experience. Just contradicts the whole point!

Normal auction rules apply - if you don't like what you see, don't bid. At least ask a question before bidding about the postage before bidding.

    Whether it's made up of £1 plus £39 p&p........

This is why eBay now charge fees on postage.
The fee dodgers ruined it for the honest sellers!!!

I have to disagree with that, there were always the dodgers but they were not "unsortable" by some other method......

Ebay did it because they are greedy and wanted an easy income fix. as a "normal" seller, selling more overseas than to the UK, ebay takes more on the postage/packing than what they do on FVF's...

Yep, greedy sellers who *must* make money on postage and rip off the buyer. Tut tut
