Shell PlusPoints & New Drivers Club

Has anyone else noticed that Shell's new "Drivers Club" points scheme seems to have gone into meltdown?

I had a months worth of Pluspoints disappear on transfer to the Drivers Club scheme. Have sent in the receipts but heard diddly squat since.

The new drivers club points are supposed to automatically generate the 10 pound off vouchers (the option I selected). I have over 2400 points, but have yet to receive any vouchers despite several emails and a written letter.

Needless to say, I've stopped purchasing Shell Petrol until such time as they get their reward scheme act together.

Don't ditch Shell just yet - in fact you might consider their credit card, as it give 3% fuel & 1% other purchases, as a permanent feature, as soon as they launch it, next month!

There is a spend limit, on fuel though!

Vansboy - I'm expecting the my Shell credit card through my door soon.

Currently using a Capital One cashback card for petrol (4% cashback for first three months).

Seems little point though using the Shell Card, if the reward program isn't working?

i had about £60 worth pluspoints that appear to have vanished. there is no reference to them in my drivers club statement, and i have e mailed shell three times to enquire about them, alas to no avail.

Mr Spoons: keep sending those emails - I finally got a reply from Shell - well, actually the response came from Bertelsmann.de, a German company. Perhaps Shell have outsourced the reward scheme (Shellpluspoints was previously based in Northampton - the response from Pluspoints was very good).

They sent me a transaction breakdown: but the document was so complicated, I could barely understand it. Each transaction was listed as zero driversclub points, even though say 10 litres were purchased but at the end of say May and June there was a monthly total of drivers club points that didn't exactly add up to May and June transactions.

I've now requested my ten pounds off voucher for about the fifth or sixth time - it should have been sent automatically about six weeks ago.

Shell have completely failed to follow the maxim of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". The Pluspoints scheme was simple to understand and worked well - the new Drivers Club has all the makings of another PR disaster like Carphone Warehouse - albeit on a much smaller scale.

  • Don't speak to me about Shell Drivers Club - I'm still waiting for points to be transferred from the old system. Despite the fact that I've had numerous password resets, emails and phone calls flying backwards and forwards I'm still unable to view anything online. I can log in OK but however long I leave the gap between viewing I still receive a message asking me to wait 48 hours after receiving password to view details.

Quite frankly the email responses and telephone dialogue have been nothing short of a joke.

I've now boycotted shell petrol and I'm now thinking of writing to the Chairman of shell.

This should be so simple to remedy but I've spent the best part of 4 months tearing my hair out

    Hi,

I can say i have had no joy with this lot either:confused: , and may do the same and not purchase their fuel in future. The Shell Drivers Club website seems to have gone to pot.

I have suggested to them to try designing a new website! Even get a new webmaster! At one time i could track my points earnt on site, but not any more! e-mail after e-mail no joy.

I keep all my receipts so i can check they have been credited, but pointless when the site does not work properly. They even admitted in an e-mail recently that the website was experiencing tech probs. Waste of effort. Rewards! more like rip you off and waste your time!

Anyone else having problems out there??

My experience with Shell Driver's Club is as follows:

Whilst away on holiday in July Shell Drivers' Club sent notification that I had won a prize of 100,000 points for swiping my card in June.

On returning from holiday I eventually got round to contacting their customer services as advised in the letter, about two weeks after the letter of notification, to be told by an Indian gentleman somewhere in an Indian call-centre that as I had not been in touch with them they had awarded my prize to someone else.

Naturally, I was none to pleased but he was only prepared to read from his script wishing me better luck next time.

This was a substantial prize which I had legitimately won and so I emailed and wrote a letter experessing my surprise at the decision and expressing my acute dissatisfaction at this decision.

    Neither were replied to!

My Drivers' club card has now been binned and further correspondence forwarded to them requiring my details be removed from their databases.
Needless to say I now have stopped using Shell and would not return to them no matter how low their prices may get in relation to other retailers.

Tesco has been getting some bad press recently, some of it justified, but they certainly know how to run a reward scheme with flexability in it's administration and prompt and courteous replies to enquiries and requests.

Shell, however, appears to be on a self destruct course in relation to reward scheme.

  • Tried today to amalgamate 2 cards as no response to previous emails and original card not working. Might as well as tried to collect my airmiles which are credited atomatically (sic) when you have enough. I currently have over 10000 points on original card and 2000 odd on new card and have been waiting over a year. Operater could not find prepared answer in her script book and could not help after a ten minute wait on the phone. Surely Shell does not employ the same semi English literate people you find in their all night garages after midnight to answer their phones during the day. The whole thing seems a waste of time. I use 200ish litres of fuel a week from either Shell or Tesco and my Reward vouchers just keep rolling in whilst my Shell rewards appear to be stuck on a desert island somewhere (probably with their chief execs).
  • My story is basically the same as everyone else. They have over 10,000 points credited to me and despite repeated calls and e-mails nothing has happened. when you google 'drivers club problems' there are loads of bulletin boards with people on having the same problems. I have tried telephoning Shell UK but all they will do is give me the number of the call centre. I am fed up speaking to a woman in Mumbai who pretends her name is Mary!
