I tend to agree with MallRat. I haven't noticed any aggressive recruiting by Appen. I also can't echo extraJam more. Appen provided a poor job, with even poorer terms and conditions.

I wouldn't say in my dealings with them that iSS could be called less professional. The only difference is they seem willing to respect the fact it's a work at home position, instead of constantly trying to micromanage.

The only thing Appen ever excelled at was sending out endless emails filled with instructions, rules and moans.

I actually like providing work for iSS - yes the task is repetitive and the job could hardly be called riveting, but they let you get on with it, the terms and conditions are the best you could realistically hope for, and I feel a lot less demoralised than I did working for Appen where there was a constant climate of fear.

Of course it's true; maybe contracts won't be extended into next year, but I hope they will and I'm not going to depress myself endlessly worrying about it. There has been no indication either way what will happen.

Indeed. Though sometimes I feel like I whinge too much about a company that did after all pay me to work :), to deny it was a negative experience because of that would be a bit like Stockholm Syndrome. If this iss contract isn't renewed, I'll still remember this as a good job with a reasonable, unpretentious company, and recommend it.
  • Maybe the UK manager is just fine, but the person I'm dealing with makes mistakes all the time.

Fair enough. Perhaps the reverse of the ABH situation then, where people from some places seem to have no compllaints.

Thanks. Was hoping we might be able to get work 7 days a week after they introduced the latest rule, but clearly not.

Am also still waiting for my November pay as well. If it doesn't come through on Monday, will have to email them I think..

Yeah me too, I did a few more hours than usual at the start of this week hoping to get a bit more done this time, but ended up being about the same :(

I'd definitely get in touch about the payment, last month I had to contact them for the same reason. They thought they had paid me, but didn't realise they hadn't until I told them.

I was in the middle of working when they disappeared. Thought I MAY have been fired or something due to the message that popped up. :D Oh well, at least we only have to go 3 days until they return..
