I'm doing training for some new Appen project atm... I hope it's better than WSE.

Managed to just complete the 10 hours by the end of yesterday (literally crammed on Sunday and Monday)

Log-in just now... no work available.

A bit annoyed as I was hoping to make up the time I was denied last week when access disappeared and I not even close to 10.

This definitely feels like a job on the side, opposed to anything you could reliably make money from.

Nope, haven't heard from Appen! Wouldn't be interested even if I could reapply though.

Is this linked to transcription, or something else? And did they approach you to apply for it?

Am thinking I may be forced to at least try reapplying if our contracts don't get renewed in December/the project doesn't continue.. Hopefully it won't come to that though!

    Hi,

Im jumping on someone else question but I recently started working for appen too. About three months ago I failed the test for WSE (I passed the first stage but not the second for the specific project). I was so frustrated with their guidelines though....and sort of glad i didn't pass (ive worked for LB previously).

Anyway, about 6 weeks later I got asked to test for another role and since leapforce ignored me and I hadnt heard back from ISS I decided I may as well try. The qualification was much easier and so is the job. Its not transcription. Its a set number of hours per week, but unlike the first role I went for its quite flexible (cant go over 1/3rd of total weekly hours in a day but otherwise is flexible) which suited me so much more the the other WSE positions as im doing this around a full time job. I don't want to say exactly what it is - not standard WSE, its rating a specific type of result only. I thought it might be boring but its quite entertaining, and the guidelines are quite short and specific so so far meeting metrics has been ok (who knows how long itll last!). And there haven't been any work outages, so being able to decide when to work and knowing there will be work available is nice (not the case with LB!).

After being glad to get away following the qualification experience first time round ive been working six weeks now and really enjoying it - and found everyone to be very helpful. I have no idea how long it'll last and continue to be all rosy - but for now its working well for me! Though not sure this is particularly helpful to you as the specific project is not listed on their website., but they have definitely been recruiting in the UK for roles that are neither transcription or the other two main projects.

Glad to hear you're having a good experience with ABH. I imagine they can be a nice company to work for (good communication and well organised.. mostly) if you get a task that is sane! The work might be similar to what we're doing at ISS, which is quite a specific task compared to standard WSE.

What sillymeme said sounds a lot like the project I've applied for. The training was easy and the test a breeze. I hope the work is equally as simple.

Thanks for the info. It does sound very similar to what we're doing on this thread. Well, apart from the set hours and lack of outages parts, anyway(!) Good to know that other opportunities are continuing to pop up, especially considering we're not yet sure whether our project will continue into the new year or not..

Interesting email today. Wonder how this new 5 hours daily max will affect how soon we run out of hours each week - still expect us to not quite make it to Saturday because I'll certainly be pushing 5 hours a day and probably everyone else will too  It does seem like they've over-hired a bit for this project.

Thanks. Just read it. Most I've ever done in a day is about 4 hours, so it's good news for me I suppose. As for at what point hours will run out next week...we shall see!

Are anyone else's hours for today not showing in My Report, by the way?
