  • Just got this email back from them:
    Dear Cardholder,
    Thank you for your email.
    Apologies for the inconvenience caused.
Please note in order to close your Ukash card we require you to complete a closure/refund form that I have attached to this email.
We also require a copy of your bank statement showing your account number and sort code to ensure we are transferring the funds to the correct account.
Please also note there will be no closure fee applied until 10th April 2016.
Once I have the above I can promptly assist you.
    Kind Regards,
    Dawn B.

Why on earth do they need to see my bank statement for that?

    Very funny!
    :o

I tried it with hubby's phone (he has a Revolut account to) and it did the same so, as we have the same phones, it must be something to do with them, so I'll have to email the id to them instead.

    I was just joking :)

Do it over the phone and ask for a confirmation email, which is the route I took and got the following
    Dear <my name>
    Thank you for contacting us.
I can confirm that your card <card number> has been closed as per your request.
    Kind Regards, <customer service agent>

  • Did you have a balance to transfer off it though? I'm just confused as to why they want my bank statement. I'm sure I topped it up with a debit card when first got it?

I returned the form two days ago and am still waiting for my card to be cancelled!

Did you print the form to sign it or did you type your name into the signature box?

It was almost a week and still no reply to my form so I rang them again. It seems that if you don't want your balance refunded (I only had 91c) they will cancel over phone and send email.
Wish I'd never got a card in the first place, not Ukash fault but I loaded up two cards for a Greek holiday last year. Then with their bank issues last summer I felt it safest to pay to withdraw all from UK ATM and buy cash euro 's so never actually used the cards at all, lol!

I topped my card up when the exchange rate was over 1.40 and have 1200 euros on it. I am going on holidays in June so would I be better off using the card abroad at ATM to withdraw all the cash and paying to cancel it afterwards or cancelling it for free now (bearing in mind the exchange rate is much lower)
