Hi all,
Wanted to add my review. I am in Amsterdam for 3 months for work, so got a travel money card based on Martin's review. It arrived within the time period specified etc. and I was very happy.
However when I tried to log in to top in a few days into my time abroad, I couldn't remember my password. I clicked the reset password button but nothing came through. Tried this a number of times over 2 days but nothing happened. Called customer services who tried various things, and most of it was !!!!!!!! so after 30 minutes I hung up (bearing in mind I am calling from abroad). Really patronizing guy on the phone. Tried customer services again the next day and this time very helpful. My query has to go through to the technical unit, which meant it wasn't resolved for a few days. So this meant I had to option but to take money out with my debit card (ouch!!!!) The issue was that my email had been tagged as spam, so their automatic password reset emails weren't being sent to me. ????? anyhow happy it did now work.
BUT now I found you have to follow different links to actually top up. Really feels like I am going round in circles. Really annoying and I wouldn't recommend.0 -
I have never done this before,
Not sure who will read this and anybody will be able to help.
I got a UKASH prepaid travel money card after reading martinmoneysavingexpert email last summer.
I have now received an email from Ukash telling me that from the 10th April they will charge a monthly fee and also for each transaction as well as a non active fee if you do not use the card for 60 days.
I now want to cancel the card as i only use it during the summer holiday once a year but they will charge 12euros.
as they are changing their terms and conditions surely i should not have to pay for my cancellation?
Does anybody know the answer to this?
Kind regards

Withdraw cash before then via ATM and/or use the balance as part payment for your shopping in the supermarket. Then there will be nothing for them to take. Don't waste your time and money with cancellation.0 -
Yes, I just received the same email and although I use the euro card infrequently for holiday spending I have found it very useful. These charges will come into effect on 10th April 2016.
€1.20 monthly fee, €2.00 ATM withdrawal, €0.50 POS fee and €5 if no transaction has been made in any 60 day period.
I phoned up and queried this as you can imagine that would soon add up, the best way to get over the ATM charge is to draw it out in one transaction but that defeats the object. The agent told me if there is nothing in the account they cannot charge inactivity fees so I suggest you use it or pay the €12 and close the account. I'm not very happy, any advice Martin?

Hi ScouseMouse, thanks for confirming UKAS's phone response about prepaid cards with no balance by April 10. I do hope it's true and that you recorded it! I plan to spend up by then and will never use a prepaid card again.
The email made no mention of the previous 12 euro closure fee, which I only spotted by going to the website.
I am left wondering if these crooks will later try to chase their extortionate new inactivity fees on cards with zero balance, or mess up card holders credit rating for fun?? Hardly worthwhile but who knows with this lot.

Not 10 April but 2 April! Email claims changes come in on 10 April but small print under fees box states fees will apply from 2 April.0

I have received this email too. The charges are extortionate and will erode away any funds. But their system won't even let me log on to cancel the card. Is what they are doing legal?0

I have just received this email as well. So annoyed that companies like this can just change the rules after we've agreed to terms and signed up. I only signed up for one on the recommendation of Martin Lewis and the website because I wouldn't have to pay all the fees and not have to worry about it if I didn't use it again. I've emailed them to say I want to cancel the card etc and not pay a fee since it no longer fits my purpose because of their changes. Will see how I get on. Any help on this would be great though.0

Why all of this drama?
No need to cancel. Just spend or withdraw whatever is left on the card. Clearly the new owners have a different idea of how a travel card should perform.0 -
