  • Shocked by the appaling customer services of this company. The card they sent me was not a travel prepay card, but a regular card in US$ and therefore no good to me. I was promised a full refund on 7th July (within 10 days), and I have STILL not received this. The last communication a week ago
I can confirm you the refund process has reached it's last stage.

    wouldn't touch with a bargepole!

I bought a Ukash travelmoney card because of the exchange rate offered and I thought I might have some chance of the £5 bonus offered for the first 5000 signing up through moneysavingexpert. I got my card within 5 working days - good but, despite an email telling me the card would arrive with the £5 bonus already loaded, my account still shows only the amount in euros that I bought. Has anyone else got their bonus?

Update 23/08/14. I have received an email from Ukash English Support telling me that the £5 bonus will be added by 26/08/14.
Update 27/08/14. I emailed Ukash this morning when there was still no extra cash in my account and I have just had a phone call from them telling me that the bonus is in my account now. Just checked and it is.

Still I doubt if I will use my card again after I have used the present balance. I do not trust them to get major items right if they cannot do this correctly. They should not have sent the email telling me I had got the bonus. I would have been none the wiser and would have thought everything was fine with my account and might have remained a customer of theirs.
  • I had a nightmare with this card, which I ordered for a 3 week trip around the USA.

Neither the automated SMS PIN service nor the Automated phone line would work, so I couldn't get a PIN until I'd already been in the US for a week (despite ordering the card 6 weeks in advance), the mobile app wouldn't work (and does't for anyone it seems according to the app reviews), the link to top up/manage the card disappeared from my account, the card wasn't accepted in 2 out of 3 shops I tried to use it in, when I finally got a special link emailed to access the card, it diverted me to a "warning, this may be a fraudulent site trying to steal your details" page, and every time I contacted customer services they took 2-3 days to reply.

By the time I had my PIN, and access to top up the card (though not by debit card, as I found out only after all this that as I registered in Spain, debit card top up is not possible), I only had 3 days left of my 3 week trip, by which point it was useless as I'd already had to spend and withdraw on my normal debit card.

When I asked for a cancellation and refund as the card was now useless, they tried to charge me €25 for the privilege.

    Useless!

My experience with Ukash was good. Pretty much the same as MidasTouched's very well written review in post #17 so aside from a few minor quibbles all worked as it should. Would use again.
  • The money saving expert page suggests applying for the travel money prepaid card and not the MasterCard. However using the link I can only seem to see that the MasterCard is available ?

Hi everyone with a ukash card. I've just ordered one it has come through. With the text service to get a pin, do you text any pin you like plus the card digits? I've done this but I'm not sure if it has worked. Should I get a confirmation SMS back that it has all worked?? If so how long did it take for everyone to get the SMS back??
    Many thanks!!

I've just ordered one of these Ukash cards, I only topped up £50.
I've just been into an independent travel agents and asked about them and they said steer clear of them as they have heard of customers not being able to get their money out whilst abroad.
I'm really confused now whether to just take euros and a credit card for emergencies or this Ukash card.......

  • Has anyone experienced website problems?

I can access the separate account website (where you log in to see you card details, transactions, balance etc) but when I try to top up (which, ridiculously is a link to a different site and the 'link' is unsecured) or try to just go to the main ukash.com website, it just hangs and won't connect? I get a security message from my browser on the top up link, as whilst it's written as ukash.com/tmc it tries to link to ukash.co.uk/tmc which apparently doesn't have a security certificate. So currently unable to top up my card and concerned about security and whether any of the sites are [now] secure.

MSE perhaps you should consider these issues & those raised by other forumites in your recommendation of ukash - it is definitely not clear when applying as to which card you're applying for and i can understand how people have ended up getting the 'wrong' card!
