UKash Pre Paid travel Card

Site is completely down for me and support are AWOL. Yesterday it was just the top-up site, now it's the whole thing.
I think it would be worth reconsidering Martin's advice in the article - lots of people on Twitter saying they are abroad without cash now.0 -
I was looking at the Ukash travel money card - numerous bad reviews, so I'll have to reconsider.
Mind you, I suspect if you take their Euro travel money card and only use it for currency at ATMs there should be no big dramas - I might just try one with 100 Euros next time in the Canaries as a trial.
Still can't see past the Norwich & Peterborough Gold Classic current account for a debit card to use anywhere abroad, absolutely no fees.
Yes, you have to pay in a minimum £500 per month - but it can be withdrawn or transferred the same working day - or just use it as a regular everday account with debit card.
Beats the MetroBank equivalent on two counts - it charges fees outwith Eurozone, and you have to apply in person at a branch which are all in or around the London/Home Counties.
The Nationwide FlexPlus account also offers a fee free debit card and free travel insurance - but at £10 per month charge.0 -
I 'phoned Ukash customer support with several questions - all fully answered.
When I asked about the 12 Euro termination fee the young lady mentioned that the card had a two or three year validity - that's not made clear in their online guide.
At this point they would issue a replacement card - with a 9.50 Euro fee.
So, obviously, they get you one way or another.0 -
I have used a UKASH pre-paid travel card for a recent trip to the USA. I will never be using one again. Issues being unable to top up in the States, being unable to access my account due to 'technical difficulties' and pretty random phoneline support in terms of Customer support...the whole experience has been one of frustration and wondering why I bothered.... oh and several vendors and cashpoints where the card was not accepted/would not work.0
-
I just want to add to this, I've had the same problems, being stuck in the US without access to my own money.
Shame on you, Martin Lewis. I would have expected better from the man who claims to be on our side, yet recommends these amateurs. I will certainly be thinking twice before taking any of his "advice" again. There was clearly no research done into this before it was published and I wish I had done my own before blindly following his.
So disappointed.0 -
Avoid anything to do with Ukash - do not put yourself through the hassle. Go with another prepaid travel card. I am in the middle of a nightmare trip to the US and trying to sort out unexplained transactions. Customer support is useless and not interested. This is the first time I have used them and it will certainly be the last. I have used a different company for Euro transactions and it has been fine. The online website is terrible and transaction dates don't match - for example I paid a hotel on May 26 and it is listed as May 23.. 3 days before even being in the country. Now trying to chase suspect transactions is impossible because their information is not reliable and they won't help.0

There are certainly issues at the moment with the website, it seems to have security verification problems. I rang customer services and they assured me that IT was looking into it, there was nothing wrong and I could ignore the warnings coming up on my computer, no thanks, I will wait until it's sorted.0

I recently got a UKash prepaid travel card for America but now am wondering if it's safe to put money on for my trip would I be safer with something different0

Really worried about my money now, I'm going away soon and can't seem to login to my travelmoney account. I've tried to get a password reset but it doesn't send anything out and I've emailed the company asking for help.
Does anyone know if we can check balance at a UK ATM for free? I just want to make sure it works before I go.Internet earnings:
Swagbucks - £748
InstaGC -£73
Nielsen Mobile - £70
Mobile Trends - £19.50
iPoll - £150 -
This company to me is the absolute PITS anyway. I have lived in the same house since 1984 and had the same office address since 1979 and they turned me down for a card because of a "security failure" which is out sourced and fully automatic, thick and stupid springs to mind as it possibly could not cope with a businessman being on the electoral roll and home and existing cards being at the business address. Tried to complain and nothing but very second rate staff who where not prepared to nor give any idea what the problem might be so it could be resolved. VERY BAD business model and staff attitude.0
