University parking tickets worry

Sorry, I'm not trying to get ahead of myself here. I will stay completely anonymous if I do take it to the media. I'll sort my own situation out first before anything else.0

I did actually bump into the parking wardens. It was a few days after one of my tickets and they saw me get out of my car. They are an external company hired by the university to do what they do. The guy said "I've put tickets on your car a few times now, you have to pay those you know or we'll take you to court" I said "I am paying for them" and he just agreed and said he had no way of finding out if I was paying or not.
If he's seen you driving, and you admit you will be paying the tickets to him, you're already identified. All it takes is to show him the uni's picture of you and you can then put a name to the face. It's not abuse of the DPA, as you signed a disclaimer when you agreed to all the uni's t&c's.0 -
Oh fer crying out loud...
Kanye, ignore nobby's typically pointless "contribution".Je suis Charlie.0 -
As usual, Bazster has no idea about university life. He tries his best on parking, but sometimes he's out of his depth I'm afraid. Listen to Coupon and keep it low key from now.0

Yeah that's right, when I was a student (studying for a proper degree at a proper university, not Meeja Studies at the former Little Piddleton Primary School, now the University of Lymeswold) the offices were full of parking attendants in grubby raincoats leafing through books of mugshots and attending identity parades.
Have you ever made a single intelligent, worthwhile post on this board?Je suis Charlie.0 -

No need to get so worked up, I'm sure the op has had good advice from Coupon, as well as your advice in there. I'm glad you managed to get a place for a proper degree as well. It's a shame you were worried over parking then, you should have enjoyed life.0 -
Easy now. You've all been very helpful whatever degree you have.
Thing is I'm not sure the parking attendants have access to student information and they wouldn't be able to put a name to any face if I remained anonymous nor could they assume who I was to then discipline me without committing slander. A lot of other students have parking tickets who haven't paid.0 -

They probably wouldn't bother, but it's not quite so simple as other third party tickets. It's a ticket from the uni itself, with whom you have a direct contract you signed when you enrolled, including conduct, and disciplinary procedures. A sub contractor would not have access to your records, but the uni has. There is nothing to stop them showing your library card picture to him if you become very noticeable. I wouldn't draw attention to yourself yet. Wouldn't affect the outcome, but just saying you could be identified if you draw attention to yourself. The time to crusade is when you no longer want anything from the uni.0 -

This thread has become hilarious - but then I have had a glass and a half of wine! And, since I work in education I did like the reference to ' Meeja Studies at the former Little Piddleton Primary School, now the University of Lymeswold) !PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
