  • An hour later, and the kitchen is full of heaps of paper and stuff I have emptied out of a small, dusty, cob-web infested bookcase. I found telephone directories there untouched from 2001/2002...

    I am close to despair, but know that this is the ***necessary hell-hole on the way to an organised kitchen*** :smiles brightly and with some difficulty:

    Must drink tea and summon courage to continue... :(

    Starting again at 11:20

    MissH when did you sneak in. Missed you my fellow mopping procrastinator.

    Almost finished next door. Just the grass to cut to tidy up all the fallen leaves etc. Will take it all to the dump on the way to cricket as we go right past! DS2 coming with me so he can help.

    Bedding almost dry. sore throat getting worse and dS2 sounds like a dog when he coughs.

    Hope you sit next to nice peopel! We are all together, 2 behind 2 and 1 across in the aisle - we all like aisle seats so maximised taking into account DS3 will not sit next to a stranger and will not sit away from an aisle DS1 won't care where he is.

    more washing done, cleared a pile from my room and loads from the bathroom.
    I have a huge box I am photographing to throw on ebay.. none listed yet but a bunch of pics done.. mostly new tagged stuff at the moment.

    I need to phone window installers to fix one of the locks which is ceased shut.

    DS3 and DD3 home from school for the summer.. so I'm going up there to sort their clothes out.. they have loads of dead school bits and outgrown and they can sort their bags so I can wash them ready for September.. I need to draw a chart for when they go back.. they love those.. OH might not though :p

    Pixie off to bed.. I started tidying my room so it is now completely trashed and I won't have time to sort it before bed unless I don't eat tonight!!

    I need to dig out a tin of paint too. ooh.. I also dropped my phone cable down the back of the sideboard.. Oh can rescue it later.. and I have a parcel to post..

    More ebeast pics done but I now have Spam for a few hours so I will sit watching him play and start listing!

    all clippings picked up and ive even hit the sides of the conifers with a broom knocking all the clippings and dead bits out - it was very therapeutic. ive filled 7 big garden bags so council can have them next week. DH has been home for lunch so eaten omelettes.
    rang hospital at 11.30 and mil was still waiting to go down so they've told me not to ring till after 4 as thats the earliest shell be back on the ward. i'd just want it done and over with. going for my much needed shower now.

    Hello Dusty - it's good to be back, and my kitchen is looking a lot better for it already. Not quite finished everything on the list for today (and even that will leave plenty for another time!) but I'm really quite pleased with progress:

    * Tidy and bin loose papers and things that need sorting
    * Empty the bookcase in the corner, sort books and papers, bin;
    * Clean bookcase, polish, then file necessary stuff in there
    * Hoover beams and light fittings
    * Wipe the window sills
    * Wipe the woodwork (doors, skirtings) and the light switches
    * Hoover floors and walls (yes it was that bad)
    * Mop kitchen floor
    * Hoover hall beams, walls, floor

    Still to go:

    * Wipe and polish the table
    * Wipe the cupboard fronts
    * Wipe the bin lids
    * Wipe the main surfaces
    * Shine the sink, taps and drainer

    Cup of tea first; and shove loaf of bread in the oven to be getting on with it!

    MissH xx
