Amandaatnumber7 thank you for your good wishes.
Sorry about your caesarean scar problems, I hope this lot of antibiotics will clear the infection once and for good. Well done for persevering with the breastfeeding too, in spite of your health issues.
Another day in bed for me by the look of it, grrrrr the sun is shining and I hate to miss the sunshine, there is so little of it in this country!
Yesterday a friend of DD's came visiting and I made an executive decision, not a very frugal decision but needs must. I have asked her to give me a few hours of housecleaning. I know she needs work and I am not in a fit state, and the house needs a serious scrubbing top to bottom. Since the builders have been and gone I haven't managed to tackle it properly and eventually I got fed up and neglected it, as I would clean and then another lot would come in and create chaos and dirt, and living with two grown men means they make a bloody mess all the time, although DS does help a bit.
So I am giving myself this pre-Christmas treat of having the house cleaned top to bottom, see it clean for once. Also I am glad to give work to someone who needs it. She is a lovely girl and has helped DD a lot and is a delight to have around. After the cleaning her and DS are planning to do some photography. She is an arts grad like DD and is very good at using the camera, and DS will really enjoy having someone like her to exchange ideas with.
I have to manage to at least get up and look for something to read, I can't be glued to the iPad all day!
Have a good OS day. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Busy day here yesterday and another busy day today....dentist soon then drop some stuff off to a lady who doesn't have much for her kids, then home for an hour, then pick my cousin up to watch the boy in his school play, come home, feed child then drop him back at school for his evening performance. I have to go back for him at 7:30 so after that I will be able to relax.
Take care of yourselves, normal service will be resumed shortly.0 -
I had made soup yesteday using up a bean mix in the cupboard which I had for my lunch. It tasted very good with a bit of pepper added.
I managed at work today and only took painkillers after lunch which was better than I expected.
Need to go and get something ready for tea and then relax this evening.
Hope all are starting to feel better.0 -
Good morning,
Cranky sound like you had a busy day, I hope you had a nice relaxing evening afterwards.
Villagelife I am glad your back is getting better, take it easy though, it is easy to overdo it when you take painkillers because of no pain and it delays full recovery if you do too much (personal experience).
I am feeling so much better today, still sneezing and a bit weak, but I hope to be on the mend.
This afternoon I have a hospital appointment so will have to wrap up warm but that's all I am doing today, other than rest and potter. I might tidy up a bit for tomorrow as DD's friend is coming to do a cleaning of the house. Did I mention this before? If not, here's the lowdown: I can't keep up, so I am giving myself the gift of a one off cleaning, this girl needs work and I need a clean house. Am really excited at the idea of seeing my house properly cleaned, it will be well worth the expense (very modest) and I am glad I can help a friend of DD's who has been very good to her during her difficult time.
Ok, off to get some breakfast and a slow pottering morning before getting washed and ready for the hospital.
Have a good OS day. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Caterina I hope your dd's friend sorts the house out. Brick dust comes in so many colours and gets absolutely everywhere.
I've had a very busy few days but I have this afternoon spare to sit in front of the fire and wrap presents. There are probably other things that I should be doing (like ironing) but I will be happier once the presents are wrapped and labelled and I'm thinking I will find time for the ironing on Saturday.
Tomorrow I'm going to have purple highlights done. A sort of present to myself a bit like your cleaner CaterinaI have consulted the child who said he won't mind being taken to school by a purple stripey mother so I will be spending most of the time between school drop off and school collection being made what I suppose could politely be termed "alternative". Tomorrow night I am taking the boy to see Andre Rieu in concert. That is another of our Christmas treats. I am mostly very careful with the money that I have from his father dying, but occasionally I think the boy needs experiences. A strange Dutch violinist with his own orchestra seems like a good one. :rotfl:

Hi all
I know I'm very late to this but if it's ok could I join.... I used to be reasonably OS but then DS arrived , and two jobs later although I'm earning more than I ever have I became very time poor and to be honest have completely given up
I'm very frustrated with myself because it has meant despite the pay increase I'm still ending up with no money at the end of the month and living month to month
It's been pretty silly really I've been using all the expensive shortcuts in the book but I've decided no more... earlier in the year I lost my job and it was scary having no back up and we ended up borrowing money from my parents
So I'm hoping to get back on the wagon so to speak and reading this thread has been inspiring
So step one (and it will be baby steps) is to sort out meal planning as we have been spending a lot on fast food and takeaways so thank you all for reinspiring me

Welcome euripedes, and hope you soon get to place where you feel comfortable.
Doing ok here making last of the gifts then decided Dgs needed a rainbow blanket - anything that comforts him is worth the work bless him. He actually took part in the schools christmas production rehearsals for a few minutes despite being up at 4.45 am  I have been complete zombie all day.
Made beef biriyani tonight - well based on the original - and it was simple and soooo tasty also very cheap to make.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Good evening,
Cranky LOL to your purple highlights, I had a purple fringe for a good few years, my teens loved it! The cleaning girl was wonderful, but it took her over 4 hours just to remove all the dust and grime from the kitchen, she went item by item, DS and I helped, as there was a lot to do and shift. I asked her to come back tomorrow for a few more hours, she is well worth the investment. It will be paid by my Sunday and Wednesday babysits (in the pipeline).
Euripidesralph welcome to the thread, I hope we will inspire you to get back to the OS fold! In case you haven't seen it, there is also another excellent inspiring thread in this forum, called Not Buying It! A lot of us post there too.
Ginny you hero, knitting for your DGS at the last minute! Hope you get a good sleep tonight.
I had a better day today, had my first outing, in the car only, to pick up some fuel while the prices are so low.
Tomorrow I am off to the herbal medicine clinic so it will be a proper outing, bus and tube. But I feel a lot better, apart from having to blow y nose every now and then.
Very sleepy as I have done loads today, considering I was almost 3 days in bed.
Good night. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Good morning,
I have decided to lie low for a while, too many things running concurrently in my life and I need a bit of downtime to rest and reflect.
Please don't mind if I don't post for a while, but I will pop in and lurk if I can. I have also dropped out of the GC and NSDs as I might have to spend some money to sort out some issues so I would fail it anyway.
I wish everybody a very merry Christmas and happy New Year, thank you for being part of my life and I hope that 2015 sees us all in better shape in every sense of the way. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Good Morning,
Caterina, of course we don't mind but we will miss you. I hope everything starts to settle down for you soon and your health issues are resolved positively.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year too. Look after yourself x0
