Merry Christmas to all my fab friends here. Super O/S Chrimbo here - wonderful!Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Super OS here too, just to give you an idea, DS got me a bottle brush made of natural fibres as one of the gifts! Loving it.
Dinner mostly YS stuff out of freezer but also leeks and sprouts from allotment and stuffing made of bread heels that I kept over the last three months, with homegrown herbs.
Wreath on door is made of foraged holly and ivy and tied on a willow frame that is reused every year, by a red ribbon also used every year!
Am stuffed. Tomorrow leftovers and then food amnesty (diet!).Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
CATTIE I had a recycled materials washing up brush with two replacement heads in my stocking yesterday and the biggest bag of buttons I've ever seen along with 1,000 meters of black thread and I LOVE them. We had all home grown veg too, isn't OS wonderful? Lyn xxx.0

Hello - I'm also scrambling back onto the os bandwagon. My freezer is currently full of rubbish ready meal type bits from my 2 year 'I hate cooking' phase! Now Christmas is done we want to save a house deposit - this means serious os living as we want at least £12k saved by next year.
The plan is to use up as much food as possible this month. DS1's birthday is next month so we are taking him, his brothers and his friend (and friend's dad who is a friend of OH) to a nice American style restaurant. Much easier than doing a big party!
We have already bought him a present. We don't get lots for birthdays as two of the three boys have birthdays within a month of Christmas. This year he wanted a tablet so we went for the Kindle Fire 6", I had a £10 voucher and it was on sale so didn't break the bank.
My vice is definitely wine - I spend a fortune on it! I'm cutting back to one bottle at the weekend and only once the leftover Christmas booze is all gone! I used to make my own but decided not to go back down that route as I know I will drink more if I do!0 -
caterina, lovely to see you posting again. I hope your health worries have been alleviated.
I decided yesterday was the day to clean and declutter the top of the kitchen units, I am ashamed to say, they were disgusting and I am really embarrassed about the dirt/grease that was there. It took me a couple of hours to scrub them clean and wash all the cupboard fronts so today and tomorrow will have to be easy days as I could just about get out of bed this morning (I had been in it for 13 hours), I really can't seem to get a grip on this 'pacing' yourself business that all the Dr's talk about when talking about ME. I seem to get a 'good day', do as much as I can and then pay for it for days!
Today I will try to meal plan for the next week and looking at the freezer list, i won't need to buy any meat in January. I have some turkey to use in a turkey casserole type dinner but that will have to be tomorrow as DH got a pork joint out of the freezer yesterday (after I had gone to bed).
I am going to try to achieve £50 a week for shopping as DH and I would like to go to Sidmouth for a 2 week break this year in our caravan so I need to start saving Asap. Not sure how much of that I should allocate to my DD as she is vegetarian but seeing as we always have lots of fruit and veg in the house, I probably won't need to spend much on quorn/tofu etc.0 -
arrrgh - tops of kitchen cupboards!!!!!!!!!!!! here's a tip for you MOS! its not mine - OH did it after he had to clean them. just cover them with cling film! its invisible and you only have to remove the film, give a quick wipe with a damp cloth and replace the film! saves hours of scrubbing with a brillo pad (yes, mine DO get that bad!).0
