    Good afternoon,

MOS good luck with 10 NSDs per month from January, I shall be aiming to do the same but not pressurise myself into doing it as a challenge. In fact I hope to do more than 10 per months tbh, but will see how it goes.

Meanwhile today I did a big shop, had to get some stuff for DD, who arrives today from The Sticks, so will need to have something to open under the Christmas tree. I hope everything will be ok while she is here and that she behaves sensibly enough to maintain the family peace.

The other stuff I bought was reduced natural cleaners, Dr Bronner soaps and 4 x 1Kg bags of magnesium salts to take relaxing baths (I just thought WHAT THE HECK, my treat to myself, for a change!). Expensive shopping but bargainous all the same, if it makes sense. Will pack DD's gifts now then will treat myself to a nice bath (YIPPEE!!!).

Have a good rest of the day.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Caterina I hope you have a peaceful visitation - if its anything like a my youngest's, I know what you mean.. BFWhs3Y.gif

Could you please tell me more about the bath stuff?!? Sounds intriguing and very desirable :D
  • Caterina, I hope to have more than 10 NSD's but thought I could manage 10 this month without too much pressure put on myself. The bath bits sound so lovely, I can't remember the last time I had a bath, we have an en-suite so tend to shower and our youngest DD has the main bathroom all to herself and as I refuse to clean it for her I very much doubt a bath would be relaxing for me!

I am in the middle of making a huge pot of Spaghetti Bolognaise, I asked DH to get me 2 packs of meat out thinking I only had mince meat in 250g packs but he miraculously found 2 packs that weighed 889grams so I am cooking it all and will freeze the left overs in tubs so that on a CBA night I can just pull one of them from the freezer. :D

Does anyone else find their house looks huge once all the deccies have been taken down? I can't believe how big our living room looks! :rotfl:

    Good morning,

Katkin, just google magnesium bath salts, it is a very good mineral salt to put in the bath with all sorts of relaxing and beneficial properties. Sadly I just discovered that my bargain was not a bargain at all and that I could have got the salts much cheaper in bulk on fleabay! So although the first bag is open I am going to return the other 3 and get a refund!

MOS my house is a bit of a tip these days, so much decorating still to be done (starting on 5th January) and stuff is bring moved upstairs, so the living room looks huge without the sofa! Decorations going down tomorrow probably.

Well, DD is here and I am already losing sleep. She is lovely and sweet but has told us that she intends to spend some time with her nutter on and off boyfriend, so of course I am desperately worried but hey ho, she is 25 and has to face the consequences of her lack of wisdom.

I can't wait for life to normalise again, past New Years eve, past the funeral of my friend's son on Friday, past my op on the following Tuesday, I am CRAVING a bit of peace and calm and my lovely simple routine with tai chi and looking after the boys and pottering in the house doing my little OS things.

Have a very good New Year's Eve and see you in 2015.

  • Caterina, it is so hard to let go isn't it. i am the same with my two DD's. I hope you get the peace and quiet you deserve in the not too distant future.

Dinner tonight was pork belly strips (purchased from L!dl's a few months ago at 30% off), I had two packs with 4 strips in each and thought I was only feeding 3.....move on a few hours and I now have 5 adults to feed. So with the pork belly glazing nicely in the sweet chilli glaze (home made :D) I decided to cook some jacket potatoes with it but only had 4 big potatoes so dinner tonight was Chilli pork belly strips, half a jacket potato each topped with cheese and beans and some noodles covered in the chilli sauce that was left over, a very weird meal combination but everyone said how lovely it was :j Veggie DD had a whole jacket potato with lots of beans and cheese and she too was happy.

I was hoping for a NSD but when I went to make the glaze I realised I had run out of honey, so youngest DD dispatched to the local shop to buy a jar. So annoyed as I could have sworn I had a jar in the cupboard but no one is claiming to have used it all up!

Well, the Kids (all aged over 17 and up to age 23) are sitting here playing on the Wii so it looks like we are in for a games night.

I hope you all have a wonderful New Years Eve x
  • Hugs CATTIE, lots of hugs and warm happy thoughts for you my friend, I wish it was possible to take your burden for a little while to give you a respite, all I can do is hope and care and send you positivity and love, which I do in abundance. Trite though it sounds things do pass, all things, and there will be peace and tranquility again in your life lovey. Until then we're here for you, to help in any way we are able, never forget that, Lyn xxx.

Thank you MOS and MrsL, today we discovered that she has given that individual a very large sum of money that I had saved for her over 4 years and had given her when she supposedly was trying to turn her life around.

When confronted, she stormed away, as always. I am sure she is with him now and I fear for her safety but nothing I can do.

Her dad, brother and I are bereft. I am in bed, crying on and off, I seem to have stopped functioning for the stress. Some New Years eve.

Your words make the world of difference to me. I hope you all have a good new year and lots of joy and prosperity.

    This, too, shall pass.

  • CATTIE you can hold on to hope pet, you can't live her life for her and you can't make her do anything other than what she wants, but you can hold tight to hope and never give up caring and wishing for the best for her. It's so, so hard being a caring parent but as long as you do keep caring there is a lifeline there ready and waiting for her should she ever have need of it, and if she does, she'll be very grateful for it too. Chin up, keep the faith, you never know do you?

It's only money Caterina. I can understand that you feel betrayed but she is still alive and where there is life there is hope.

People tell me that I am lucky to be able to have a career break and that my house etc is paid for. None of it makes up for having Mr Cranky with us. If she puts her face round the door, give her a hug, tell her it doesn't matter and don't whatever you do give her any more money!
  • Chin up Caterina. I've been in the same position. So frustrating when you save hard and they give it away to the less than deserving.

Its a new year in a few hours. Lets hope it will bring wonderful things for us. ;)
