    Good morning,

Life goes on, my cold is better, crossing fingers that i am clear of cold soon, so on Tuesday I can have my little op and get over and done with that.

Planning on a NSD today, apart from a mystery restaurant visit, for which the cost is refunded so not counted as spend.

Other than that, I have to confess that I do not have a lot of energy for anything, OS or otherwise, so any cleaning, cooking or knitting will have to wait. I hope to shift myself into gear enough to go for a little walk after I drink my tea. Not having any breakfast as my lunch is booked for 12:30 and it is already nearly 9:30 so I can wait. I have a few nuts in a paper bag in my handbag in case I get the serious munchies before I get there.

    Have a good day.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • It's always nice to have a day off! We've not long been up as the boys slept in. I'm in the mood to watch Poirot and bake some warming wintery food. Going to enjoy my coffee first and then make some potato scones for breakfast.

Dentist went well, I'm getting the chip fixed and a filling replaced next week. She's also referring me to a specialist to correct a long term problem with my gums.
  • Afternoon All, my fibre has been horrendous the last couple of days so not much to report from me. Dinner tonight is being cooked by my Dad so me, DH, DD's x2 and BF's will be invading my Dad's house later, should be a nice evening with the advantage of no cooking for me and free food! :rotfl:

I pretty much get away with doing my main shopping once every 2 weeks and just a top up shop in between so my main shop was done yesterday and I only spent £59, I do still have quite a bit of meat in the freezer though so it meant I only needed some sausages for the coming weeks menu plans. I have no idea how I read the meal plan wrong for yesterday, it says chicken curry.....we ended up with chicken breasts, stuffed with Pax0, coated in cranberry sauce and wrapped in bacon with oven chips. It was delicious and everyone said they would love to have it again as the stuffing gave the chicken a really lovely taste.

We have heavy rain here so whilst waiting for my pain killers to work I have sat watching all kinds of birds feeding from our feeders, we have had a Robin, a Wren, Great Tits, Coal Tits and Blue Tits, Starlings and a male and female Blackbird visit, I am so glad the cats are fast asleep and haven't noticed any of our visiting birds. I did put a little food on the floor for the Robin and Wren as they can't hang from the feeders.

Wishing you all a lovely OS day and catch up soon.

    Good evening,

Retromother, good news re. the dentist, you sound quite relaxed about it so I hope it was not too bad an experience.

MOS sorry you are not feeling too good, I hope you get better and more energy soon. How lovely it must be to watch birds, I hope your cats don't notice them, I have the same problem, so many cats in the neighbourhood so I never put a bird feeder anywhere near my garden for fear of cat attacks on the birds.

Well, I had free food too, as I shall get the money of my mystery restaurant assignment refunded (plus a small fee). And this is topped by NSD no. 3!

As I had a large main meal tonight dinner is just going to be a light lentil and spinach soup, which DH has started and I need to go and complete.

While I cook, he is going to finally write the letter to our rogue ex-electrician, asking him for some money back, we might never see it but at least he will have to stop trying to get money that we supposedly "owe" him, out of us.

Tying at least a few loose ends feels good.

    Good night all.

Another one too frightened to feed the garden birds as cat number 2 turned into a birdie murderer when we moved here and had to have a collar with a bell bought for her. We hang our bird feeders on MrC's memorial tree which is next to a conservation area so lots of feathered friends to feed there.

We haven't been out today. I ordered the cats a new cat tree from Zoo plus just before Christmas and it was due to come today. When it arrived I put it together with some help from the critters and only needing one plaster (and that was before I started). We had the last cat tree 4 years and it's wrecked. They play on it, sleep on it and sharpen their claws on it so it's worth having as they don't go out much in the cold weather.

We had a mini roast dinner tonight with some meat already cooked just liberated from the freezer and reheated in the oven along with the potatoes.

Good luck with the letter to the ex-electrician. He's a fool because word of mouth counts for so much in that kind of occupation.

    Good evening,

Cranky Zoo plus is brilliant, best cat food prices ever! We never got a cat tree for our two, we were lucky that they never ruined anything.

The ex-electrician letter is now typed and will be posted registered tomorrow, then the fun and games begin, DH is asking him to refund us more than £300 to us (instead of his claim of us having to pay him £400+!). Will update when we get the fuming reply.

Another NSD today and topped by a big declutter, lots of (lovely but surplus to requitement) pottery cups and mugs given to a friend, as well as tons of stuff ready to be donated to the jumble sale from next Wed to next Fri (it is on Saturday), so I have the time for even more declutter.

On Tuesday I am having my op, thanks God the fold seems to have cleared so there should be no delays.

My (nanny) boys are back but I explained to the mum that this week is out and she is ok with it, also the new family with the early morning pick up know that I am unavailable until next Monday, so I just pray and hope that all goes to plan.

Can't wait for life to return to normal, with my little routines. Must be getting old! Also, speaking of old, I can't wait to have another haircut to lose even more of my old tinted hair, I am now almost all grey and the colour of my hair goes really well with pearls and red lipstick, loving my new look, especially when I go out in my tweed suit (original 60s from my lovely Auntie!). Totally OS look!

    Good night.

  • Caterina Good luck with the Ex-Electrician letter
MOS hope your feeling better soon

It was DS1 14th bday yesterday, we had a lovely morning tea with my parents and their partners and last night we took him and a couple of friends out for dinner. I ate far too much :o

I made some baby food yesterday from a few pears and a sml pumpkin that were past their best,, but it would seem that DS3 is not a fan of my cooking lol but he's going to have to get use to it as I cant afford to keep buying pouches.

Its going to be absolutely stinking hot here today 41 C Its too hot to do too much, I'm taking the little boys to an indoor playground as they're air-conditioned, I guess its not very OS but at least its not too expensive.
I'm making this salad for dinner http://retromummy.com/2014/01/01/a-salad-for-your-new-year/
its my new favourite as you can use just about anything you have in your fridge, plus I have some bacon that needs using up.
Love people use things. The opposite never works.

    Good morning,

Amandaatnumber7 happy belated birthday to your DS1, it sounds like you all had a lovely family time! Re. Heat, please send us some sunshine over here in the UK, it is grim and cold and damp and a bit of sunshine would go a long way!

Well, today I am going to have to break my run of NSDs, but will do so judiciously. We need eggs and salad and a few more things, but I have the Marks vouchers and the money should be already transferred in the gift card, so I am planning to spend a maximum of £20 for the shopping.

I would normally have gone to the gym or to have a nice long walk today, but am concerned about keeping myself well before the hospital tomorrow, I don't want to risk muscle ache or a return of the cold, can't wait to be over and done with that op and return to my normal life.

This afternoon the dishwasher repair man is coming to assess whether it is viable to repair or whether it is scrap, crossing fingers that it can be repaired.

Also, the building works start on my front room, loose cracked plaster to be hacked and we are thinking of moving the radiator, it means having to buy a new one as the one we have is not suitable to be placed vertically.

I hope you all have a good OS day, or night, in the case of our Antipodean friends!
