Am at home - off work due to my back. It is very rare for me to take time off. I have been given new medication which is wiping me out and I seem to have slept all the time but did fill in a couple of surveys and have reached payout point s I should be receiving £5 soon.
DH went shopping and so I now have lots of yellow stickered bread to do something with.
Have managed to make soup for tea and will use up some bread.0 -
A quick hello from Caterinaland, in a hurry as my kind Tai Chi teacher is picking me up in a minute to drive to the class.
Villagelife I hope your back gets better soon.
Today's OS day started with making a banana cake with two mushy bananas, bottling a few cooked tomatoes that were about to turn, will be used for sauces and soups, making breakfast for all.
Then tai chi, then back home to tidy and cook lunch, DH still at home but on the mend so he will appreciate some soup for lunch.
Then work with the boys.
I must find time to iron the shirts that I washed (5) before I get another wash in and then it becomes the ironing mountain again.
No plan for the evening, quiet early night probably.
Have a good OS day all. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
I hope you're feeling better ginny and villagelife. I still have Grumpy the house elf on the sofa with his sore throat and cough.
We sat and watched films together this afternoon, so the ironing mountain is still dwelling in my bedroom and the floor in the sitting room still needs sweeping. I'm a bit tired to be honest as his sleeping goes a bit haywire when he's ill and he's been up at 4:30am two out of the last three mornings, and 5:15 the other. Hoping for a better night tonight.
The cake tin is empty (he's picking at bits rather than eating his usual meals) so filling that will be tomorrow's job along with the dreaded ironing and some long overdue cleaning. On the plus side, having him sat on his bum is saving me petrol as no school run.
I would also like a quiet early night Caterina but despite getting up at the crack of something (too early for dawn), the boy is still going to bed at his usual time of 9pm. I will aim to be tucked up myself by 9:30pm.0 -
I hope everyone and your other halves feel a bit better soon :heart2:
There's not much to report from me. My mega laundry session is still in drying mode and as for ironing it  I don't think I'm at that level yet unless its uber important... aka smart work outfits. Major kudos to you who manage the iron - its one household machine I've yet to master! (not sure it its one I ever want too either
)
I did manage a bit of a bake in today and have used my oven to its fullest to get ahead with some stews, sausage rolls etc to freeze for the coming month. Did pizza dough and have frozen some and part-baked others for easy pizza nights.
The bathroom needs a a major bleaching. Hubs has taken over cleaning it for the last few months and although he keeps on top of it - surface wise, it really needs a deep clean. So that's on tomorrow's list.
A NSD too, so quite chuffed all round, though as usual I keep thinking I should be doing a lot more. Guilt is a terrible thing! :mad:0 -
Good evening all,
Finally I had time to catch up with the thread, after a few days of running around like a headless chicken (and having DH with Man Flu did not help LOL).
Katkin, thank you for your kind words about this thread, but it is the opposite way, it is not me keeping you all going, but it is you all keeping me going, so the thanks are for all the posters on this thread! Hope your car is ok and repairs not too expensive. Good for you on NSD!
Greenbee (((hugs))) so sorry you are feeling so demotivated, but the plan to exercise in daylight is fantastic, two birds with a stone really, to get you to feel better in yourself. I remember my years of depression, when I had to force myself out in the daylight, it helped immensely.
Amandaatnumber7, good luck with having the money chat with your DH, perhaps he is in a mood because he is also worried, men do not share as much as we do and it is possible that he is carrying that worry in his head. I hope that a nice frank chat and sorting out a plan will help both of you to ease the worry. Good for you for finding bits and pieces to sell, it will help, at least in the interim.
MOS, I am glad that your CFS seems to be getting better, I have a couple of friends who have been suffering from this debilitating disease and it takes a long time to go, but hope that this is a sign that you might be on the mend.
Ginny, how is your tummy today? Hope better! Re. electrician and legal action, I am still hoping that a letter from DH with details of his shortcomings will shut him up. Unfortunately the new electricians have not committed to say that it is entirely his fault (difficult to prove) so we might not be able to claim money back from him, but the £470 that we supposedly owe him, he can WHISTLE for it all he wants...dreadful man.
Cranky, poor little boy of yours, hope he is getting better, and that you get some good rest too. What are you studing at the OU?
Villagelife, glad you had a good time in London, please let me know if you think of coming back sometime, it would be good to meet up (same for MOS and any of you!).
I have organised a few London meet ups in the past and most of them were good, lately I haven't had much response, but if there is enough interest I would love to set another one up.
Today was a good day, and a NSD to boot! I love Thursdays, they are my Fridays, and feel nice and relaxed.
I haven't done much housework but my Tai Chi this morning was good and the great news is that my current teacher will cover for the Tuesday classes as well (which I can attend without additional costs), so if all goes well I might end up doing it three times per week, it makes me feel so good that I really would like that.
Working with the boys was good too and had a little catch up with the mother, who is really nice, I used to work out with her but we have both left the bootcamp for different reasons and it is nice to see her even for a short time. She is always so busy that we rarely have the time to exchange more than a few words.
I have enough cash to see us through the weekend out of London to see our DD, although I shall pay for fuel with the cashback credit card, 3% cashback is nice especially when you have to fill up the tank. Diesel price is quite good at the moment so hopefully it won't be too expensive.
DH is still too unwell to go to his martial arts (thank you all for good wishes) but has been improving so he was able to work from home. This evening we plan a nice simple dinner and watch Secrets of the Castle, with the delectable Peter - although DH is not impressed at my appreciative comments LOL!
Have a good OS night. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
I'm studying for a degree in health and social care. I officially work for the child supp0rt place, but I started a 5 year career break the July after Mr C died. Trying to find holiday child care for a bereaved sensitive child just got too much and as the insurance paid for the house, I can survive on my M.O.D widows pension and widowed parents allowance, both of which I would still get if I was working, so I don't have to feel like I'm working the benefit system if you know what I mean. I really don't want to go back to my job. Our local hospital is just up the road so I'd like to work there, but failing that I would rather do care work.
Me and the boy will be coming to London next April some time as my sister has thoughtfully told my dad that we will come and visit him next year to save him visiting us. It's actually a good plan, but we haven't discussed dates other than it will be in my son's school holidays. Dad lives just outside Shepherds Bush. Before he retired he was a caretaker on the Hammersmith hospital medical staff housing estate. We'd be happy to head out your way for a cuppa. I used to live in Charlton and went to college in Woolwich, so should be able to find you without too much traumaMaybe Greenwich so the house elf can have a mooch round the observatory. I love that place - I once saw a tourist try and cuddle a squirrel there. It bit her
I've joined the grocery challenge too. Christmas dinner is tucked up in the freezer. I need to make mince pies but I have 2 bargain jars of "R'sons" mincemeat for those. They were 20p a jar in @sda last February and they are still in date :T
I use a T*sco credit card so my rewards come as vouchers. I paid through it for our new furniture when we moved house (the old stuff was fit for the tip having lived through and mostly predated the building project). I used the vouchers from that to restock my store cupboard which cheered me up no end.
Have a good evening all.0 -
Cranky I would love to meet up and to get to meet your little lad as well, make sure to let me know with some advance! Greenwich is good, the observatory is less than half hour walk from my home. And you, being a regular Sarf East Londoner, fancy that! I really look forward to it!
All the best with your studies and hope you get just the job you want and that's right for you and the house elf! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
I'm from up Norf, my dad was a marine engineer, but work in the shipyards dried up so we moved to Charlton when I was 16. As well as college, I worked in a laundry in Chiswick (in the office), the Dept of the Environment near Lambeth Bridge, the Halifax near Victoria Station and the Regent Palace Hotel in Piccadilly Circus. I transferred back up here with an in house transfer with Trusthouse Forte who owned the hotel when I was 24. I can still find my way round London fine. We put it to the test last year when we visited dad, went on the London Eye and did a bit of shopping. We should probably have been banned from the M&M store in Leicester Square too, but luckily we weren't and it was my nephews fault. We won't be bringing him next time.
I hope your visit to your DD goes OK. The story reminds me of my mum who left my dad when I was 18 and came back to live up here. She moved in with her boyfriend who had previously been her best friend's husband. It didn't end well but there's nothing you can do but be on standby in case she actually decides to leave. My cousin doesn't speak to his mum and dad because his mum insulted his wife. The same wife that was trying to break through a locked door with a hammer to get to him shortly before she left him for good. He's married to someone else now, but he still doesn't speak to his mum and dad. Staying neutral is the hardest thing in the world, but do it if you can.0 -
Evening All,
I have had the loveliest day in London with my DD, we visited Selfridges, M&M world and had a wonder around. It was lovely but so cold and wet, we decided to go back to DD's flat for the afternoon.
DD's BF took her to Nando's tonight and whilst there she had her purse stolen, they both went 'over the top' looking for it, making sure everyone in there knew the purse was lost but nothing was found whilst still there. DD left her contact number with them and they rang 10 minutes ago to tell her it had been found on another table with all her cards still in it. Whoever pick pocketed it obviously decided it wasn't worth stealing as she had no cash in it and her bank cards aren't contactless. She is going to pop back and pick it up in the morning.
I think I will 'pay' for today as my legs are so painful and achy but it was well worth it. We are back to London on Saturday morning to collect DD for a 3 week break back home and i can't wait to bring her back as she is being bullied by 3 out of the 6 other flat mates. dD isn't a drinker, party animal and is a confident person who does her own thing and doesn't rely on anyone else, she is also very dedicated to her studies and puts in a lot of hours study each week but this seems to annoy a few others in the flat so they constantly harass her over stuff. Nothing she does it right, she can't win no matter what she does and they have her in tears at least 3 times a week! I have told her to speak with the Student service people and see what can be done as I don't think it's fair for people to make others feel so bad just because they won't 'join in'
Right, off to bed for me as it has been a very long day.0 -
Had a lovely night with Dgs,apart from him turning up in OH's bed at 4 am - his quilt had fallen off and he was cold so Grandy guided him back to his own bed, gave him a snuggle to warm him up and he slept till 6.30 am :j Cranky we know all too well about sleepless boys and girls. Dd didnt sleep much till she was 7 and I was certifiable, Dgs is just like her  bribed him into his coat and the car with 5 jelly beans.
Had a good day yesterday picking up a bit of shopping and Hubs has promised me a treat today, afternoon tea at a little cafe 20 minutes away. Will have to see if he is strong enough to get out of bed in time though but I dont mind as I have bits to do. Have some candles and coasters to cover with pretty napkins for kids movie night hamper. Theres a penguin to finish crochetting and 4 cards to finish then thats my orders all done. Time to knit a pirate for Dgs and stick bits on a fabric wreath for me.
have a good day everyone xClearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0
